Major Graphics Glitch...

Hi all.

http://img191.imageshack.us/img191/4116/problemscreen.jpg

What do you all think?

It flickers and changes all the time, and peeks of the game can bee seen through it sometimes, normally when moving the character or changing the view with the mouse... No crashes yet, just keep on with the garbage on the screen.

I'm running an Athlon X2 245 cpu and 2x Radeon HD4890' in xfire, but the problem is the same with xfire on and off. Latest drivers (9.12) installed.

All major graphics options are off at the moment, resolution is 1920x1080x59Hz

Cheers for any help or insights...

For starters, make sure the GPU isn't being overheated by the game, as a lot of people are having that problem.

I had the exact same graphics problem running in Windows Vista 32-bit on an iMac through Boot Camp. I also had some screen tearing. The issue was resolved by updating all graphics drivers (including Boot camp to latest version). It now runs very smoothly with no issues.

My card was the Radeon 2600 HD, so might be an issue with older Radeon drivers?

Ive uninstalled and reinstalled STO, Catalyst 9.12 drivers (tested with 9.11 first) , Direct X just to be 100% sure it wasnt my rig. Running a top end temp of 75c (wich is high for my machine, normally 66c running games) , no over clocking of the card, its a Radeeon HD 3600 that runs games that are alot more grafic intence than this.

Again it runs fine till the STO client locks up my machine and I have to manually reboot. I get back in game and I get the same messed up screen as the OP.

I then tried running in safe mode, no help. Set my card to over ride AA for STO, no help. Set everything to high, no good. Changed screen resolutions, seems worse at lower res. Have even set my PC to bare bones processes to just run STO, still no go.

Ive gone through this routine 3 times now and every bloody time the same thing ... crash = wonky screens, sector space is the worse.

Lets hope for a patch soon to see if it clears this up.

If they dont fix i'll be asking for a refund... this is a major problem...

UPDATE - It looks like a rendering issue... When i move the camera around to certian views, it cleans right up, but move off that angle a little and it all screws up again... maybe its not a drivver issue after all, eh? ^^

I have been having similar problems running the game. I'm using a 3870x2 and no matter how i put my settings, the game seems to run super choppy, and never as well as it should. I believe it might because the beta isnt programmed to run properly with crossfire. I've tried to disable crossfire but cant seem to figure out how with the new CCC.

My friend has a similar comptuer using a 4850, and his game runs flawlessly.

    Just a heads up.

I have the same graphics glitch with my machine.

    I7 920
    12 gigs of ram
    4870x2
    9.12 drivers
    vista 64

I've tried raising and lowering graphics settings. I've tried disabling the catalyst AI. I've increased the fan speed to 90% to make doubly sure I'm not overheating.

I have to think it's a driver issue, as I'm having the same kind of issue with artifacting in Borderlands.

Hmm, i already had the ATT, maybe that is why updating the drivers fixed it for me.

Alternatively, is there temp/cache folder in the STO setup (not at home so can't see the structure)? it could be that some cached element from the crash is causing the glitch for you.
