I've done about 8 missions in a row, and on every single one of them, I beam down to the surface with no away team, and my avatar is my own ship. After about maybe a minute or less, my ship turns into my character, and I can run around and complete the mission, however, I still have no away team; and the request reinforcements button doesn't work. Just to let you know.
Sometimes, the ship runs and jumps like the man should (reacting to ground control scheme), other times it tries to steer like a ship through corridors (reacting to space control scheme).
My space avatar is often the ground character too, but cannot move at all...
So far, this has been the only bug I have encountered

You're LUCKY there is at least one mission ( lvl 4) where I cannot complete the mission because there is just one of me against 6 klingons in a group, and I need to kill 5 groups [that's the objective, no shortcuts here]. Sure, I can fight a group and maybe kill one before they kill me, and I respawn. But that means to finish the mission I have to fight and die 25 times (and it takes longer than that may sound too )
I REALLY hope they fix this bug soon. Even though the ship avatar on planet or person in space bug "corrects" itself in 20-30 seconds, it still breaks immersion.
This has happened to me several times. I find if I wait a while I turn back into myself (instead of a ship) and a few moments later the button "Request Reinforcements" shows up. If you click that button your away team beams down to you. It can take quite a while sometimes though for all of this to happen.
Happens on almost every ground mission here...this is getting rather annoying.
Its a game breaker for me....argh! Im havin 2nd thoughts on canceling my preorder now....GG

Did this on the mission you are talking about. This is probably lag/server load, I hope.
ONE THING i hate is I beamed out to re beam down, I am in sector space. UGH! I should have went back to orbit.
same here, opened a ticket, most annoying bug if you cannot complete away missions due to lack of away folks. must be because i am tactical and have a RED suit, we guys are supposed to die

Tell me about it, I'm lucky I'm an engineer, I just throw turrets and stuff about to help me
I was in the middle of the eagles nest and all my characters died at once and i because my ship but i still had my ground Avatar and ship controls and was being pounded by the enemy. just so weird
i dont really understand why everyone is saying its a game breaker its beta were not ment 2 be playing the game whats the point anyway when everyone char gets wiped in a few weeks im pritty sure cryptic will sort this by launch if not then it most certainly will be a game breaker.
This is happening to me again again and again.. Plus when I appear as avatar in space, it usualy shuts down the game and then as we all know, you have to wait in que etc. It also happends a lot on ground missions. With people in team, its okay, you appear in few moments as avatar and rest of people and you can go. But beware, if you are soloing, you might appear with no team and then get drasticly "owned" by every group of mobs.
I've had to abort several missions because of no away team beaming down with me. I also get the ship bug, but mos of th etime it turns back into a person if I wait a bit, but still no crew.

Ah! Yes, thanks! I stumbled upon this solution myself, out of pure accident ( I had no clue what this button was supposed to do based on its name and no tooltip. thanks!
Oh, and about the other post, -- IMO some obscure slash command isn't exactly a solution, it's not like I knew that. Luckily the "request reinforcements" button ( when/if it does show up ) solves the issue, it is the only real solution for a user IMO.
/fillpetteamlist
type that and wait a couple of seconds
This has always worked to make my away team appear...but I wait until my ship turns in to my captain before I use it because it is usually lag related.
/FillPetTeamList is your best friend in this case. Use it.
I've seen this as well, while running an explore unknown sector mission, same 5 groups of Klingons. I beamed back to my ship, straight to sector space. But there was a button that said continue planet defense. I hit that, chose my away team, and restarted the mission.
The bug where your ship is your avatar on the ground, or your character is your avatar in space, has been the most persisent I've seen in the game. It used to be no big deal; you just had to wait a couple minutes for the avatars to swap. Now though the physics engine gets mixed up too. Piloting a ship on the ground doesn't work.
The worst was when I tried to complete the ground mission at starbase 24. My character beamed into empty space and promptly began falling away from the starbase. He fell all the way off the map, only time I've reached the map edge. I got a message that there was nothing on sensors and that I should warp back. I waed right into the middle of a gang of Klingons with less than 5% hull and was vaporized. Respawned and got to start the mission all over again.
This same thing happens to my avatar. I'll beam up to my ship but im not a ship, im a man, standing in the middle of space. Recently my guy started falling all the way down to the bottom of the map before it would give me the "turn around" prompt and then i would turn back into my ship. Annoying and slightly comical, please fix.

There is the answer. It was several replies back. This is NOT a game breaker. It is a bug, there's a perfectly functional work around.
If your away team does not spawn, type the following console command in chat:
That is "/" with "fill pet team list" (no spaces between the words)
After doing that, your team will spawn with a minor delay (30 secs give or take)
