Install Arc

Launcher starts, and...nothing

Exactly what the thread title says: I downloaded and installed the game with no issues, opened the program, the launcher window pops up and nothing loads but empty white space.

>>Screenshot here<<

No error messages, no anything. Task Manager says the game is running normally, and an icon appears in the tray. I've left it sitting like this for nearly an hour with no changes or indication that anything is loading. Tried rebooting, resintalling, updated my video driver, made sure it wasn't being blocked by firewall....

I've downloaded the game twice via Steam and torrent, and both versions had this problem.

Help?

ETA: Added screenshot.

Also, I've looked through several other threads about launcher problems, etc., but none of these seem entirely relevant as most of the people couldn't even get the launcher to start, or have login issues, or whatever. My game starts, opens a launcher window (as you can see above), but the window doesn't actually load anything.

Keep looking on the forum for someone else with the same problem. Thats your best bet. Unless you have an in-game problem you’re not going to get any help from the devs anytime soon. I actually ended up saying sod it to my problem and gave up, deleting everything.

But I wish you luck. :)

Do you have anything blocking or preventing Internet Explorer from running on the system? The launcher uses inline IE (as far as I can tell).

This appears to be the problem, though I can't say for certain; IE is having issues on my system, but it's so completely blocked that I can't even find out what the problem is.

After reading your suggestion, I tried opening IE (haven't touched it in months), only to have an error message pop up. So I then went to go download and reinstall it, and during the installation process it stopped part way and said it could not finish because I had "failed to download a Microsoft update". It gave me the option to manually download the update, then another error message came up with "could not open default browser". Any attempts to go to the Microsoft site (via Firefox, my default and only other installed browser) to download this supposed update I'm missing has resulted in a page saying that it can only be viewed using IE 5 or higher.

Obviously something is blocking/broken IE or something in my system, but I have no idea where to go from here. I can't think of any programs I have that would be blocking IE or hindering Microsoft updates, and as far as I know my automatic updates have been working normally.

Any suggestions? I'm running Windows XP Media Edition 32-bit, not sure which Service Pack, but I imagine 3.

ETA: Just discovered I'm still on SP2. That being said, I can't update because apparently you can only access Mircosoft downloads through IE. Which is broken, and I can't fix it until I download a Mircosoft update.

Excuse me while I go punch something.
