    DO you have this problem?
I downloaded and installed everything through the ‘Star Trek Online Downloader.’ I click on STO exe icon and everything started up and I get passed the first login and get patched and the news just fine. I hit ‘Engage’ and get to here http://i648.photobucket.com/albums/uu204/Brax_01/problem1.jpg I then sit there for a few minutes, nothing happens and then I get this message http://i648.photobucket.com/albums/uu204/Brax_01/problem2.jpg ‘Connection to the login server timed out.’
I have tried a bunch of different things to see if I could get passed this I: change the proxy, disabled my firewall, force verify, uninstalled then reinstalled, restarted my PC, and even fiddled my internet connection; but still I get stuck at the same point.

Every MMO experiences growing pains and Star Trek Online is really no stranger to a long lineage of MMOs which were disastrous before prime time. If you think this is bad, you should have played World Of Warcraft back in the closed beta for the game. There were no skill trees, no PVP to enjoy and only two zones to "explore". Oh and no weapons beyond melee and standard vendor junk.

This game will do just fine, it's just not handling the large demand at the moment which is acceptable seeing how large and popular anything attached to the Star Trek franchise becomes. If anything, this game is a victim of the success that is attached to it's brand.

nope not this problem....really its just the game devs that we need to blame.....every game studio publisher whatever is destroying the PC game industry....its sad cause i've been gaming for a long time and its been a long time too that a good game came out and when i say good its not just gameplay....games should not go on shelves broken and in need of patching right out of the box

Can you be more descriptive and less vague and maybe someone can help you with what your having trouble with? It is kind of hard to debug what you're having trouble with.

I cant really blame him, yes he should take a few minutes to cool off but I have asked and asked and asked for help on my issue and got no response so I can see where yanrobitaille comes from.

Not to be rude but this is a beta product. It's not like anyone is forcing anyone to play it. Yes, you can get some kind of picture of what the product will look like upon release but realistically what are we complaining about here? He's complaining about server-side or client-side connectivity it's not like this is an issue that is going to last up until release day. Sure, maybe they underestimated how much interest there would be, maybe they even gave out too many beta keys but think about it like an adult - do you REALLY think connectivity is going to be an issue a month from now? A week from now?

He also claims he played World of Warcraft - I played World of Warcraft for almost four years and participated in both their closed and open beta. The game (WoW) was completely pathetic and utterly tragic when it first launched. Nothing worked, everything broke. And speaking of connectivity -- I am sitting on Mal'Ganis right now waiting to queue for Alterac Valley - the current time estimate is an hour and twenty minutes so yeah ...

Connectivity isn’t the issue for me. My problem is, no was, I got no help from the devs (or anyone else for that matter) after asking multiple times for it. Is this how it’s going to be when I spend the money on the game, I have an in game issue and I just get ignored?

What was the resolution -- I just saw your problem and attempted to help you fix it :)

Like I said - are you going to describe your problem or are you going to tell us about your gaming experience? One of these things helps you get a problem resolved, the other doesn't.

Please, describe your problem. The issue I am having myself is that is is saying the server is busy at the moment, and to try again later.

On a side note, every MMO has had issues, even the ones you listed, yes, I played those as well in Betas, closed and open, and they were major problems in both. It takes time to get sorted out, because guess what... this is a beta. There are hoping to get the last of the bugs fixed before release. WoW, LOTRO, Tablua Rasa, all of the recent ones I have played, have had major issues of all kinds when you have so many connections to the server at once for the first time.

Please, describe your issue so that someone can try to help you with it.

The servers are currently overwhelmed due to the amount of people participating in the open beta phase. They are working to obtain more hardware to alleviate the issue until then, the only solution is to attempt to reconnect every so often and hope you can get in.

I gave up. I completely uninstalled everything and deleted the set-up program. I appreciate the help but it’s going to take me about 45 weeks to 5 days to get everything back (unless all I need is the setup.exe) so I think I’m pretty much done. But thank you. :o
