As a side note, some P4's use hyper-threading to mimic dual cores. That is not the same thing as a dual core. Yes, you may see 2 CPU's in your task manager. No it's not actually 2 cores.
P4 hyperthreading doesn't effectively scale 1 physical to 2 logical cores like the i7 does with 4 to 8, because of its ridiculously long pipelines combined with equally ridiculously low amounts of on-die cache. Best not to treat it as a dual-core CPU, and instead go buy something that actually has the number of physical cores you're looking for.
