*facepalm* I take it you bought an Imac as you had to knowledge on how to use Pc's. Seriously dude, if you have no idea on what is in your system when you buy it then tbh i can't see you getting anywhere with them. Im suprised you worked out how to install the game.
Ya, dude. Before you start accusing people of not knowing their system make sure you get the facts straight. The iMac was a gift firstly, secondly I know a thing or two about computers and seeing as how I'm a PC guy and not a Mac guy, this was the only logical thing to do, plus none of my programs are Mac compadible.
I just found the device manager and I have an ATI Radeon HD 2600 XT. So I'm thinking an X1800 driver isn't compadible, since it's different hardware. I was mearly seeing what Video Card driver would be best for my situation, I wasn't aware they list the recommended specs on the site.
Why don't you go *facepalm* yourself in the mirror for a couple hours, FRIEND.
Actually the "Logical" thing to do would have been to run Windows Xp in Bootcamp. Installing Windows otherwise could cause system instability which is why you're probably getting a driver error. I'm running an GTX 275 with old crappy driver(fallout 3 doesn't like the new ones) and have had not one error or crash. Same goes for my other system running an ATiI x1650 with again, another really old driver.
I am running in Bootcamp. I installed all the plug-ins and drivers properly, everything works fine. Except when I start STO it says my Video Driver is or may be out of date. So I'm trying to find an update for it now. But I think I'm running on the newest update for my video card.
Ok fair enough, just normaly people say their running in Bootcamp. But again although Bootcamp is a superb program it can have some errors. If the latest drivers are installed then come out of Bootcamp and download a program called "Wine". This is used for running Windows programs on other OS's. Then at least you'll be running on an OS that recognizes your up to date driver.
I'll keep that in mind. So basically the video driver is as good as it's gonna get. I just downloaded a program that tells me what drivers I have that are out of date. I updated a few drivers but I think something screwed up, because now my audio is funky. Sounds kind of like monotone, and has a distinct after sound like an 8-bit video game vehicle crash.
Now my bootcamp CD won't load any sort of repair/update utility. And I don't feel like another reformat, which I did a few weeks ago.
I'll try to reinstall the driver that was already loaded with bootcamp.
