Pretty straightforward. Instead of logging me in the launcher crashes.

So I haven't been able to get past the launcher for a couple days now. I've been reading the forums and nobody else seems to be reporting this particular issue.

    To reiterate:

I bring up the launcher, put in my username and password, click submit, then fill out a launcher crash report form.

    I got the same problem.

I tried to update all drivers, uninstall/reinstall the game from different mirror but I still have the same issue.

I submit my username and password, the launcher windows is displayed (almost empty) ands crash immediatly.

Nope that is a different problem.
We did not get any error message. The launcher crash silently.
By the way I never saw the autoupdater running. Is there a way to force an update ?

Read it, but I'm at a lost... perhaps contact support on the home page? I've never seen a thread about this issue either. Perhaps something on your PC is running in the background that is closing it down? Dunno, the ONLY thing I can think of is starting the PC in safemode and seeing if it crashes then? I'm grasping at straws with that, but to me the only thing I can think of is that something is running on your PC that is actively shutting it down.

It may also be an Internet Explorer issue (it runs off of IE).

And do you remeber if you had the gameclient.exe after a fresh install ?

Client number I have is CL_2010_01_06_22_23

And I do have the gameclient.exe (23.6 MB) file in the Live folder.

Also check out this thread: http://forums.startrekonline.com/showthread.php?t=69083 I know it's unrelated , but PegasusMD seems to be quite knowledgeable with that sort of stuff.

    Thanks.

So my launcher is up to date.
And I have no gameclient.exe in my live directory. But maybe it is normal since autoupdater has never been launched (I crash before).

No luck with all possible solution:

Uninstall/reinstall different version dowloaded from different sites/torrent
Running the launcher as administrator or not
    Running the launcher from safemode

    All lead to crash http://img269.imageshack.us/img269/9201/stocrash.jpg

I am running Windows VIsta 32 Ultimate

I finally get it to work.

I had to remove ALL plugins for IE8 (some of them by removing keys with regedit).
It seems crash was caused by shockwave (I assume the installation was faulty)

    Anyway it's ok now.

    Thanks for helping guys.

I think I disabled IE8 "add-ons" but I still have the same issue. I'm just gonna submit a ticket, it seems like not many of us having this issue.

When I click on the Star Trek icon from my desktop and the main screen appears like it should and the launcher version is CL_2011_04_15_17_48, and then type in my account name and password and click on submit and the launcher does load and says it is ready at the bottom and I click on engage.

Then I get a window that says that the cryptic game launcher has stopped working. A problem caused the program to stop working correctly and windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available.

Right now I can't play the game and do not know why or how to fix this problem. I have already completely un-installed the game, re-installed it and seem to be still having the same problem. I am currently running with windows 7 home premium service pack 1 and using internet explorer version 9.

If anybody else is having that same problem and has a solution on how to fix it please let me know.

I also has completely scanned my computer for anti-viruses but did not find any. I have tried to go into options to force the game but that did not work either.
