First time I tried to login today and received the message that the server is busy and to try again later. Looks like we're having some capacity issues today? I figured something like this would happen, probably more people than even on opening day of the beta.
I hope that what seems to be a lack of capacity isn't indicative of what to expect at launch. I realize it's in open beta phase and part of the point is stressing the servers, but so far it seems that the stress is too much for them. If the too busy message is your solution to it then tsk tsk. Being logged in, getting booted and not being able to get back in because "The server is busy at the moment" doesn't constitute a strategy.
Jeebus....Just curious to see if they can release how many logins/players the server can hold and how many beta test keys they actually gave out....This is very frustrating and again very concerning come "Live" D-Day
Nope and what is sad is how many people bought lifetime memberships and I am praying that STO does not turn into Star War Galaxies....and flop
The game mechanics are solid and the gameplay is fun. They simply need to work on polishing the game. In all honesty this game is about on par with WoW when it first came out as far as networking capabilities go. WoW was absolutely terrible at the beginning. There were entire days where the servers would go down. You just have to give them a bit of time to understand how to set up a network for extremely large amounts of people. This is exactly what a beta is for.
anyone from the admins will give specific time when this error will be fixed. i played the beta today morning with no errors now this is irritating and i was thinking of buying lifetime licence for it
I thought it was just that the server had better things to do than to let me play.
One thing I did notice when looking into whether others are experiencing this - I don't see a server status indicator on the website anymore. Anyone else have this issue?

I agree with you on everything you stated. That Beta is Beta...Testing.
Well you would think they would know how many BETA testers there are and what was Per sold to be set for proper capacity. At least that For the Sever not being busy:)

/THIS! OMFG I have said this since day ONE! As long as the company and the dev's don't either stop caring or not smoke crack (not sure which SOE was doing) we should be fine.
/Is still ****ed at SOE- oooooh, those *things I can't say on here*! YEARS OF WORK!!! AAARRRGH!!!!!!!!
I don't expect this to be a problem when it comes to release though as this is a company with a good number of popular titles under their belt. So I would not expect server capacity to be an issue come release, although there will always be "teething problems".
Enjoying it so far... but would luve to get in to test some more
Same problem here. Game crashed. I filled out the game crash report, went off to get some breakfast. Came back about 30 minutes later, logged in. The game then verified some content and I can't log in now.
It's grown progessively harder for me to connect to STO since OB started.
1. Start of Open Beta, I can log in fine.
2. Next day, get stuck at "Connecting to Login Server" message, have to use a US proxy to bypass that.
3. Couple of days later, I start getting smacked with a "Disconneced from Account Server" message while logging in with the proxy (no proxy still doesn't work)
4. Today, even if I get past the "Disconnected from Account Server" message, I get hit with the "Server is busy" message.
I love this game, but boy... the problems I'm having connecting and then STAYING connected are more than mildly frustrating. With any luck, it'll be fixed soon enough.
This is a beta test...
Not the finished product.
Which means there are going to be problems even with logging in at times.
I know some people here have worked or are working in data centers and server rooms, even they can tell you it's no easy feat to get a dozen systems talking to each other and in the right way plus handle all of the network connections to the net etc.
You do know what they say about expectations and reality?
Expectations tend to be much higher and then reality comes and bites you on the (censored for the unmature audience)
So don't expect much more than what we have been seeing this first week until it gets closer to launch day; as they get the bugs out of the server with each new patch they have to write.

I'm mostly OK with connectivity issues because it's beta. However, I've tried a couple times to get in and can't so folks like me will have to walk away; Cryptic is losing valuable beta player time.
Since I can't stay and play 24/7, the time I do have is imporant. I still haven't progessed past lieutenant grade 5. I'm not in a hurry mind you, I'm trying to do everthing for testing purposes. Between the gameplay bugs, disconnects and now the log-in issue, my ability to function as a tester is severely hampered.
Assuming I'm in the minority, then it's not going to matter. Assuming there are lots of people like me, it will matter to a degree. With this in mind, the beta test should have plenty of capacity and round the clock support. The support's probably there so we'll see how long the connectivity issues remain.
my first post, I am enjoying the game, still learing my way arround. It's a Beta and as such I expect glitches and I try to be patient. Can't wait till I am able to log back on and play some more.

I'm going to be hopeful I can help this week-end!
