There's on realm, but a whole bunch of servers. With only one server the instancing would make no sense.
Would be really nice to have some servers somewhere in europe and if the client would prefer instances on the european servers when the launcher is set to EU.
If you ever went on the champions forums after release you'd have noticed the strong xenophobia from cryptic on the forums regarding the prospect of EU servers.
Well the story goes that after Champions was released there was a lot of outcry from the European community regarding **** poor connections, ****** customer service and a few comments made by game/forum mods.
It escalated with it culminating in Cryptic deleting a lot of stuff off the forums and banning a bunch of people. Apparantly it was so bad some game magazines over here in the UK picked up on it and mentioned it.
why not have servers in EU? They could easily make millions of dollars a month at $15 a month thats a shed load of cash! Sure they can build a network of server farms all over the globe? And IMHO this is going to have to be the way.. low pings during the day until about 5pm im getting.

Its not just hardware. They need offices and a shitload of staff. Its not just a few guys to run the servers you need a load of support staff, accountants, legal staff and more.
Thats why typically they sell an operating license to another company. But Cryptic have no experience with this and so are not likely to consider it. Shame really, back when they were NCsoft that was taken care of for them.

Hi yes I know this lol but they will be making millions of $ a month this will help pay for it all staff / hardware the lot! And it will make people happier so maybe interest more people!

Doesn't work that way.
It has to make them enough money for it to be regarded as "profitable"
If it would actually decrease the amount of money they get now but improve customer satisfaction then it would not be done.

I connect via the proxy already and have only been able to log in once since 5pm. I get kicked out everytime I change zones and can't get back in (stuck on the account server bit)... Your proxy needs a little work
The EU proxy server made a very small difference to me..
I was using /netgraph 1 and /showfps 1 ingame
it made small differences to the Ping
Thing that I noticed all the time is the server not responding error occurs when I RECEIVE a massive amount of data.. what looks like 1000's KB/s which is very unlikely. It seems to spike the incoming data stream which in turn obviously kills the connection.

One realm yeah never one server...... there will be different servers for each instance etc when you go to earth dock you can see them....
I was also hoping for EU based servers
Cryptic do not like Europe much at all.
whit a ping 300-500 its not worth playing

Sure they do! Americans drool over France for some reason
Thats because the French won their revolution for them. Without French support the British Empire would have just stomped them.

can we eu player get access to that now , to see if it improves our connections?
Yes we can. In the launcher there is an options button which leads to the menu with that in.
However I find it makes connecting more problematic.
Can you give us details on what this proxy is Coderanger?
Yup, just click 'Options' at the top of the launcher (after login) and select EU from the proxy dropdown.
forget it - I should read before posting. Thanks!
They never bother to check back.
Yes the EU proxy does seem to have issues with the login server. Probably doesn't work at all.
Truth be told coderanger's post actually surprised me.
