Wait for what? The cryptic launcher has had this problem since Champions Online, which was fully released months ago, and still no solutions!

I tried Champions Online, and this part went smoothly for me.

If it is a bug they had in CO, they fixed it there, but when moving on to STO, decided to reinsert it :P

I really wish a DEV would respond to this issue, since it's been happening so much ...

Was having a similar problem too. It's most likely related to a firewall issue, make sure ports 7000-7500 are open. See this page ( http://forums.startrekonline.com/showthread.php?t=60269&highlight=firewall+ports ) for more info on the ports being used, I had a few of them specifically configured from Warhammer and guess I forgot about them.

I have already configured my firewall to allow this game and it doesn't work.

And to point out, Champions Online's launcher DOES work for me.

    Bumping this up.

People here cannot even run the game, I think this problem merits some dev/customer-support attention.

It'd be nice just to get an acknowledgment from Cryptic that they are aware and working on this problem.
Or some work-around, fix or whatever.

I am having the same issue. It's frustrating.

Can I ask how many of you used Steam for your pre-order vs. another source?

We are having the same problem and we didn't even get it through steam, which I hear is having a lot of problems itself with the game.

    I used Steam.
It might just be a Steam version problem.

So, really, how many with this problem got it via Steam?

Anyone having this issue, please download and run http://files.champions-online.com/nettest.exe and attach a screenshot of the results.

How do I take a screen shot of it? By the way I didn't even download it by steam. I got my beta key from Gamestop via pre-order.

Just hit the Print Screen (or Prt Scrn sometimes) button on your keyboard to grab your whole desktop to the clipboard. Then fire up Paint or something similar and do Paste and you should see the screenshot. Now you can save it as an image and upload it.

If you want to just capture the selected application hold Alt + hit Print Screen.

First of all, thank you very much for replying.

I ran this Nettest, and I get a timed out result for all ports. Though process explorer which I tried monitoring nettest with, reports it has established connection all these times.
Also, I gave full access (through firewall and the like) to Nettest (and to STO launcher, gameclient and whatnot).

if nettest is the active window an alt prtscn will just capture the nettest window to copy into paint to save as a jpeg.
good connections are 300-500 columns 1 and 3 and arround 20 on columns 2.
if you are getting time out on ports as the game uses ports 7000-7500 then something along the path to the server is blocking the ports . if readings are less that the good then something is likely filtering or delaying the packets along the path to the server.

It looks like something is blocking your connection to our servers. It could be a firewall, or your ISP. You will need to resolve this before you can login.

Same as above, something is blocking connections. Sounds like it may be a software firewall issue, so you might want to try entirely disabling it as a test.

You connection looks fine. Are you able to ping patchserver.crypticstudios.com?

How do I ping patchserver.crypticstudios.com? Sorry, I am not sure what you mean.

    Start -> Run
Type cmd in the box, hit return.
At the prompt type (without the quotes) "ping patchserver.crypticstudios.com" and hit return.

You should get something like this:

Pinging patchserver.crypticstudios.com [208.95.184.25] with 32 bytes of data:
    Reply from 208.95.184.25: bytes=32 time=117ms TTL=54
    Reply from 208.95.184.25: bytes=32 time=114ms TTL=54
    Reply from 208.95.184.25: bytes=32 time=121ms TTL=54
    Reply from 208.95.184.25: bytes=32 time=114ms TTL=54

    Ping statistics for 208.95.184.25:
    Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 4, Lost = 0 (0% loss),
Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:
    Minimum = 114ms, Maximum = 121ms, Average = 116ms

Open a Command Window (aka DOS window, etc.; try All Programs / Accessories, or type "cmd" in the Run box) and type the command "ping patchserver.crypticstudios.com" (without the quotes) and hit Enter. Ideally, you should get a series of Reply listings with times, which you should probably copy and paste into a reply. If you get "Connection timed out" or other sorts of errors, it's not a good sign; although some ISPs (unhelpfully) block pings even if they let other traffic through.

If the ping command succeeds, it might be helpful to run a related command, "tracert patchserver.crypticstudios.com", which gives a longer and more detailed list of how your network path gets from your computer to Cryptic.

I already tried pinging the server and it worked perfectly, I even did a tracert and it reached it.

I have made an exception for the game in my firewall and even tried disabling it completely. I even forwarded the ports on the router.

Could it be an ISP problem?
