I was just wondering if anyone has got the game running on this or a similar system.
I managed to create a character but as soon as I click next to start the game it load into a space station setting and freezes. Music is still playing and i do get a half rendered space station....
I have the same issue on my Dell Inspiron 1525. World of Warcraft works just fine. I hope they fix this by release or I'll ask for a refund.
If the machine doesn't meet the system requirements, there's nothing to fix. Understand, World of Warcraft is now a six year old game (give or take), and was designed to practically run on anything even at the time. This game is far more intensive, and unfortunately an Intel GMA X3000/3100 (the IGP with the 965 chipset) just isn't going to cut it, not for STO, or for any modern game really.
That IGP will play WoW, or older games like Far Cry or FEAR at the lowest settings at maybe 1024x768, but STO isn't going to be so kind.
basically, do a manual install of the drivers. First, download the zip file version of the drivers from Intel. Then unzip them to a folder you can find later. From Device Manager, right click the display adapter, update driver, now this is the important part: click "let me choose drivers" and DO NOT let it try to find them automatically. Then click the "Have disk" button. Select the folder where you unzipped the files and point to the "Graphics" subfolder, then select the "igdlh.inf" file. That should get install, change your resolution, and allow you to play STO!
(btw, the installation_readme.txt file in the zip file is wrong when it tells you to open the "longhorn" folder, as there is none. the files are in "graphics")

Probably not gonna work.
