Stuck at loading screen when entering Sector Space

SystemSystem Member, NoReporting Posts: 178,019 Arc User
I always get stuck on the loading screen when entering sector space, unless I turn the graphics all the way down before I enter. I do fine when transitioning between ship and ground, but sector space the loading screen always gets about 90% to the end and just doesn't go any further.

*bump* I have the same problem. I've got my own thread for it too.

I spent the majority of 5 hours staring at my warp loading screen trying to log into the serius sector.

1/2 an hour long enough? heh. I have waited that long if not longer. I left the room to go watch tv a while, came back and was still on the loading screen.

There have been times when it would take 2-3 minutes on other loading screens (not transitioning to sector space), which is a looooooooooong time in my personal opinion. But yea.... kinda unplayable if you can't get past loading screens in a timely manner, you forget wtf you were doing in the 1st place lol.

i have had the same issue....and been told my pc is the problem...even though i crush the minimum (am a bit short of recommended, but not by much)....i have gotten to the point where if i hang trying to goto sector space for more then 1 minute i just alt-cntl-del and relog in hopes that soon enough the issue will go away

anyone think it could be a driver issue? I'm sure my graphics card driver is up to date, but maybe some other driver?

Perhaps some input on just what the game is loading once it reaches around that 80% completion area, Could it possibly even be sound?

I'd like a techie or dev to comment on this. I've had this issue since the beginning of Closed Beta and I've not heard one real comment from the powers that be.

It's simple enough to work around, but working the graphics slider before any major load is just annoying. And then the times you forget and DOH hit the eternal load screen I just as soon log out and take a break. In fact, that's the exact reason I'm looking at the forums now.

It's not a rig issue. My rig is above recommended. I don't THINK it's a driver issue. I'd like to at least get some kind of acknowledgement that YES it is an issue and YES we are working on it.

    Keep it bumped.

same here, since closed beta I've had this problem. And if you say it isn't a rig issue that is very good news for me. PLEASE some input on this?

    I am running XP professional
    2 gigs of RAM
HD ATI Radeon 4800 with 1 gig RAM

    !!!!!!!! *BUMP* !!!!!!!!

Could it be a processor issue? The guy above me makes me think no.

I doubt its a PC issue so much as a networking issue server side. I think connections are being lost. My system specs way outclass the Recommendation for this game. During CB I never had a single issue with loading screens. Come OB they are becoming common place. The only thing that has successfully fixed it for me, is to Proxy hop. Whenever I get hungup on a loading screen to anything, I use the Task Manager to End Process, then reload using a different Proxy. Bingo, I get in.

That right there says to me its a networking issue on Cryptics end.

Thanks for the input, but I really think you are on the wrong track, at least in my case. I say this because the loading screen problem goes away if I exit the game, the restart, but before actually loggin my character in I turn the graphics all the way down and I can get in.

If I leave the graphics where they were then I just get stuck on the loading screen again. Now I know my proccesor is below requirements, but I meet/exceed everywhere else, and if there are others having the exact same problem I am and ALL of their hardware is over the recommended then that tells me its not my processor. And I really hope that is the case, but if it is, then that also means I have got NO CLUE what the real problem is.

I was planning on eventually getting a whole new rig (because my processor isn't easily upgradable apparently) But from what I'm hearing in this thread, that may not be necessary. Then that money can go toward a lifetime subscription instead!!!

Hear that Cryptic? Fix my problem and I will buy a lifetime sub!!!! ((maybe that will get their attention))

...exactly the same. I don't know why I didnt think to lower the settings! ( probably because I played Champions and have spent a lot of time adjusting the settings in both games) atleast now i can play a lil more so ubber thx to all of you. However, there does seem to be a serious problem.

I'm dreading going from sector space to "normal" space because of some insane loading times. I haven't seen my modem flash this much (except when downloading files) unless I have all 6 of my computers doing stuff on the web. Something is being sent somewhere....

Just thought I'd chime in that I'm having the same problem. It kinda sucks having to CTRL+ALT+DEL out of the game every time I forget to set my graphics to minimum just to get to sector space!

I thought I'd add that I'm also on XP Home and I'm using a Radeon 4870. I doubt that's it, it just seemed a bit coincidental.

Hopefully this will get fixed before release. My computer runs the game on maximum settings fine, but getting kicked after every mission makes it pretty much unplayable unless I keep on minimum graphics settings.

I have the same problem and the DEVS need to address this issue, It was working fine before the last patch I did not have this issue where I get stuck in loading screens. I tried the same things to lower the graphics and it works but the moment I turn up my graphics and try to load in a other zone I get stuck again.Tthat ruins the overall experience of the game and I am not satisfied with playing the game on low setting when my computer is far more capable.

Last night I discovered a setting in the video options at the very bottom under 'Troubleshooting' called "send less information" or something allong those lines (can't remember exactly sorry) It had a check box next to it unchecked. Well I checked it, and it seemed to improve things a little.

I was able to get past the loading screens, however they still took a while, BUT this might have been due to the fact that I was playing late on a Monday night. It was around midnight to about 2 am, therefor the server load could have been low and THAT may have been the reason I didn't get stuck.

I will test this theory out more when I get home from work today, I suggest others play with those settings under troubleshooting and see what you come up with.

well after some playing around with settings more last night, I think the 'Reduced File Streaming' (remember the name now) doesn't really help as much as I thought. I was still having problems last night, and the later it got the easier thing worked. So I think it is a combination of server load and graphics...

Any input on this would be great devs. Please? Pretty please? With surgar on top?

    Still waiting for word myself...

I just have to reiterate how consistently this issue affects me. Without fail, If I make a major load (into Sol or Sector Space) I will get hung up on the progress bar during the load screen at about 80 - 85 % and there is NO progress despite how long I wait.

The fix EVERY TIME is lowering my video settings to minimal.

I know I'm beating the same drum here, but I'd at least like some kind of acknowledgement that it's being looked into! Ya know?

Hey! I got it to work! I did the following things....

    1. I went to the loader, logged in and waited for it to patch. Then on the top left i went on "options"
    2. make sure there is no tip on"Run fullscreen". It has to be windowed mode.
    3. Tip "run in safe mode"
    4. Start the game. Start loading again. Wait a few minutes. It should work. It did for me

I don't know if this works. It only did for me there is no proove that it will work for you guys out there too

Bumpage. Can't enter Sol system no matter how long I wait, stuck on the warp loading screen.

Also, the warp animation is a slideshow. The cloud thingy in the center rotates smoothly, but the "star lines" update about once per second. Ugly as hell.

Update: Turned all gfx settings to absolute minimum and got through to Sol. The game looks like an TRIBBLE, though :(

There doesn't seem to have been any improvement with the patch yesterday.

This really needs to be fixed before release, and I've yet to see a dev response other than the reply template on the in-game bug report.

I don't mind putting up with the problem during beta, but i can't keep my pre-order if in a week's time I'm just paying for the pleasure of trying to avoid this bug.

I can reliably get this problem by putting any of the Texture quality slider buttons to 100% or more. If I set them to 75% I no longer have issues getting stuck on loading screens.
