it should be supported though if your operating system doesn't support dx 10.1 or 10 than getting a dx 10.1 card won't matter because dx 9 works on dx 10 card but you don't acutally use dx 10 so its basicly just a bonuse if you have vista or win 7 since the operating system controls direct x instructions not the graphics card it just processes the supported intructions.... I know I may have jjust confused you so feel free to ask for clarification if need be...
The problem is that the game says that a dual core CPU is required. Now, in terms of raw performance, a Pentium 4 matched with a Radeon HD 4670 should be able to play STO (provided some serious RAM is prsent), as as long as the game wasn't stubborn about starting up, you'd be fine. We've already had confirmation that the game will run on video cards below the minimum specifications, it would actually be nice if someone tried to run it on a below-spec CPU so that they could report the results on how well it worked.
"If you have a P4 3.4GHz you should be OK, if you have a 2.4GHz not so much. Also, why waste your money on old tech? AGP is dead and you are likely going to pay $200 for that card. Why not save up a bit longer and get a whole new system"
 "But assuming you want to shove money in that blackhole of a system make sure you have at least 1 GB of RAM - 2 GB would help a lot with smoothness - and that you have 3GHz of faster CPU. You should be able to run the game fine with that set-up. Mind you, the graphics/resolution would have to be lowered..."
I play star trek online in piv 3,2ghz 2gb ram ddr 400(dual chanell+hyperthearing nothwood 800mhz fsb)+nvidia 6600gt 256 ram unkonw brand.
The game runs fine at 75% cuality(automatically set by game).I play in a lcd at 13xx resolucion standard panel hdtv.:D
Also I tried star trek online in my asus ee 1015pn with intel atom dual core 1,5ghz 2gb ram ddr3 800mhz.+nvidia ion.And the game works fine!.(75% quality).:)
