I signed up to file planet to gain access to the STO beta.
It promptly told me that they are only giving away keys to paid members... ok fine i sign up, get the key and start downloading the game....yay.
Problem is when the DL is done i try to log in and it's a no go. Long story short, the key i was given was to some game called Allods or something.
I'd like to think this was some sort of error but i doubt it.
has this happened to anyone else?
Did i miss something somewhere?
if i did and simply need to go somewhere to get my key please let me know.
Allods is a game that shared the same graphical signup window as star trek. You accidentally signed up for the wrong game. The problem is: The star trek beta was only available to not only paying customers, but founders club members... which is extra monies... sux, I know. I am uncertain if they ever got open beta invitations, but I assume so...
while you have allods installed, make a jibberling naturalist... it's funny...
And sign up for open beta via the star trek website if you haven't already.
I know thats not much help, but I was in the same boat. So I figure'd I'd post.
if that's the case then it was misleading by design.
the link i used to get the key was side by side with the download link that i used to get the sto beta file. (which worked)
sounds like a bait and switch to me.
Bait and switch implies that they made profit from you downloading Allod. All they can guarantee is wasted bandwidth because you downloaded one game that you had no intention of playing.

Since you got the key from Fileplanet, i would contact them first.
Thought i'd see if anyone else had this problem.

Actually Allods is extremely good and it will be a F2P.
Check it out. 4th Close Beta is 19th I think.
