Launching STO causes Computer Lock Up

SystemSystem Member, NoReporting Posts: 178,019 Arc User
I've been playing sto throughout the closed beta and last night with no difficulties whatsoever. This morning I go to try launch the game, hit engage on the launch pad, and it goes to the loading screen with the progress bar at the bottom, then stops responding, if you click the mouse the computer beeps, then locks up, and I'm forced to manually restart it.

Any help would be greatly appreciated on this manner.

I get the same issue, i finally got the game downloaded and patched, when i launch into the game it gets to the cryptic loading screen and does nothing for about 10-15 minutes then it crashes and gives me the oops unknown cryptic error reporting box that I have filled out every time

Mine doesn't even crash, the whole thing locks up, I can't even bring up the task manager or anything. I'm forced to hit the power button and reboot.

I had this problem, I had to install older Nvidia drivers. I got a older GeForce 6800 Ultra series card, I had older drivers to start up with (the game got to the character generation screen), I decided to update and get the latest drivers. After I installed those, the computer locked up after hitting the "Starfleet" splash screen, turned my monitor off and the computer became unresponsive.

Try installing a older set of video drivers... If you are using GeForce 6 series try using 1.81.20 (oldest set on the website).

    Here's my story:

    Good Luck. . .

I am unable to find the list of older drivers on nvidias site, anywhere you can think of to find these?

Nevermind I found the link *edit*

I'm using the same client, but have no had no issues playing in the open beta until today. I played last night for several hours until i hit LT6 then called it a night. Tryed to get on this morning and this was presented to me instead.
