Need some fresh opinions...

Hey guys, I accidentally posted this in the Ten Forward section so I'm reposting it here:

I'm having to buy a new PC to play STO and I've narrowed my selections down to a couple of builds and I wanted to get yalls opinion on which I should go with, both systems are relatively close in price with the second one listed being a little more expensive.

First build:
-Core 2 duo, 2.53 Ghz/1066 FSB/3mb cache
-4 GB DDR2 (800 MHz)
-512 MB ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4570

Second Build:
-Core i5-520M (2.4 GHz/3MB cache)
-4 GB DDR3 (1066 MHz)
-512 MB ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4570

They are both similar but one with a bit newer tech, I think I know which one I will go with but I just wanted to get some fresh points of view before I went through with it.

Thanks in advance :)

I would do the first build but i hope youre not buy it built, if you built it yourself you can make it much more powerful and for about half the cost

I actually was, these are two Dell systems. I wasn't planning on building the machine myself as admittedly I'm not the best person with computer hardware (I don't trust myself to do it right or not to fry the hardware with a static shock).

If you have any advice though I'd be more than open to hearing it.

I'd go with that second build. The performance difference between a Core 2 and a Core i5 CPU is much larger than the next generation of CPUs. Or Phenom.

hes right the core i5-520m is better i missed that sorry. if you have a freind though that nows his way around comps i say have him help you build it. the Dell is nice but your gonna still be looking at a big chunk of change for that system. i dont know the cost youre looking at but i could probably build that system with some tweeks and a few upgades to it for around $1500, if that about what youre gonna pay for the Dell then go for the Dell but if its signicantly cheaper look into building it yourself
