Frequent Disconnects

SystemSystem Member, NoReporting Posts: 178,019 Arc User
I've been having excessive disconnections from the game server so far. It's been constant, though it has been the worst since I reached the Vega Colony Ground mission. I log in and as soon as I appear on the ground, I am disconnected and sent back to the login screen. On a few occasions, I have managed to stay connected for a little bit longer. However, I haven't stayed connected for more then 2 minutes in one login.

Is there something I can do/change to try and stop this from happening?

    Nope.

Remember that we're still in BETA, right? The more connections, the more bugs are generated. The servers keep crashing, and the techs are working very hard to make sure it stays up longer.

Just work through the frustration, hopefully in a week or so the BIG problems are sorted out. :)

Aye I hardly had any DC's before the downtime, now they're pretty constant for whatever reason.

Same here, started today. I've been playing ALOT (up to 16 hours and no issue) but now I cant stay in more than a few minutes.

No its not a heat issue
    CPU never over 53c
    Vid never over 50c
    CPU usage average 70-75%
    Bandwidth is 22mg

Have ran stability test, tuned PC and turned down graphics to lowest settings (was med-high)

Would be nice to get this cleared up

Same issue. Have not had these problems at all (except maybe on OB launch day...) until today. Disconnected 5 times in less than an hour.

Hoping something new that happened in the downtime, so that it will be easy to track down & fix...?

    Edit: Chicago - Comcast

Add my name to the list who are getting disconnected over and over today. The game worked fine yesterday. Another MMO had no problem staying connected today but STO hasn't stayed connected for more than fifteen minutes or so.

It's constant here too, and getting worse. It used to let me get halfway through a mission... Now it's between 30 seconds and 1 minute until I'm disconnected.

Just in case, where is everyone and what internet are you using?

Cable - Comcast - Bremerton, WA (W. of Seattle).

It might be a service provider issue or possibly a switch somewhere in the network.

Ok, so not much data yet, but it looks like Comcast in the Northwest might be the issue.

Frequent disconnects here as well. Started tonight. First I get Server Error in the middle of the game screen then i get disconnected. Then I can get back in in just a few minutes.

So perhaps not just the northwest, but comcast in general...no surprise there if that is the culprit, they had similar issues with WoW, EVE, and Aion at various times.

Ok, so definitely not a NW issue, but it is definitely a Comcast issue so far. Now if we can actually get to someone at Comcast who has a clue to fix it...that'd be great. :p

Had the same problem with comcast in the northeast. I power cycled the modem, fixed the prob for me.

Err, well it didn't. Worked good for like 5 minutes then, you guessed it. DC

When did you cycle it? Past 20-30 min?

I cycled it twice earlier when I thought it was my own connection causing the problem. Possibly my router at fault... But it was still happening and I saw this tread... Might as well give it a go again just in case.

Comcast - Salt Lake City, UT

Haven't had any connection issues before, but today I can't stay logged in for more than a couple of minutes. I get the red 'SERVER NOT RESPONDING' at the top of the screen and then get kicked.

Time Warner in central Kentucky. Having constant disconnect today as well, and when i exit game, my actual internet connection has been dropped (reconnects after about a minute). Funny thing is the drop only occurs while playing STO, and has only started happening today? Very odd.
