    Im having problems too...

The game loads up then goes blank screens with music.

At the bottom of the screen it says you have out dated drivers, please up date them, but my drivers on the computer are up to date!

    Its not making sence?

Really? Still no replies? Nothing. Cryptic is basically saying "Please do not buy our game" at this point.

If you actually look at the launcher it says the following

    Login server issues
    january 12 2010

We are aware that some players may be experiencing difficulties logging into star trek online, or experiencing crashes while creating a character. We are currently working on resolving this issue, and expect the issue to be resolved shortly.

    Thank you,
    The star trek online team

Further more, if you read up on these forums you'll notice other people are having the same issue , infact there is another thread (I don't have the link handy, do your own research) with several work arounds and where a few of us are working to getting it sorted.

The dev team works hard and has more problems right now than just this one, no matter how major it is.
All good things come to those who wait, have some patience or even better get involved and help resolve the issue.

you said in your first post you had tried

updat[ing] my video drivers and I have tried rebooting and I'm running the game in administrator mode, I have also tried the game in it's "safe-mode" state to no avail. I also tried Windows Xp compatible mode.

What most of us are trying now is the deleting and redownloading of the hogg files. Failing this there has been some success with complete redownloading, personally I am waiting on my hogg files at the moment.
