Stuttering!

Ok is anyone else stuttering like crazy? It does not happen in space but it happens on the ground. CONSTANTLY.

I've got a Q6600 at 3.2ghz, 8 Gigs of ram and a 9800gtx. This should NOT be happening. I can max out even the most demanding of games at full everything (except Crysis).

I've turned stuff down lower than I should have to and it still stutters. Shadows off, vsync off, etc still suttering. It is REALLY getting annoying.

not do be a TRIBBLE, but it sounds more like a Lag issue. remember, these servers are handling a HUGE load right now, everybody who wants to play is attempting to. Myself, i have a failed Graphics card, so you are having better performance right now than me.

All in all, you do have a great gaming rig, and rightly so you should not be stuttering, but as i said. issues are probably lag on the server/instance you are running.

For reference, when i was able to play, i was running things on a 3.06 Core-2-Duo, 2 gigs of RAM, and an Nvidia Geforce 8800 GS. I have a 16mbit connection via comcast and would jitter all over, drove me nuts, almost reported it as a bug. then noticed my Wife's computer did the same thing and it is nearly the same as mine, with details set to medium/high. Good Luck and Live long and Prosper.

This is a problem from last game patch. I could play fine until last patch, now I have the problem too.

Everyone always says lag when there are framerate and stuttering issues. But that's simply not what it is. Since character animation, the camera, and the rendering of the world are entirely client side - lag will not affect this at all.

    It's not lag.

It's caused by having the wrong drivers. Apparantly the new drivers don't work very well. Download 190.62

Yeah I read another thread. Downgrading video card drivers is NOT a solution. PERIOD. STO is NOT the only game I play.

Its a game problem, not a drivers problem!!!! Since last patch it working badly.

I also have bad performance (stuttering, feels like walking in mud) problems that don't seem to go away by lowering the graphic quality.

    System:
    Intel Dual Core 3.2 GHz
    4 GB RAM
    Geforce 280
    Vista Ultimate 32

I had this problem in Champions Online as well. I did have it in STO as well, in the short time I was able to play. Is this an engine problem ?

PC: 8800GT graphics, Vista 64bit, E8400 Intel CPU and 8Gb of RAM.

Yeah STO seems intermittently jerky even though my computer is much better than the Recommended Spec.

    Q6600 @ 3GHz
    4GB DDR3 @ 1333MHz (CL6)
    ATI Radeon 4870 1GB
    OCZ Vertex Turbo 120GB SSD
    Windows 7 x64

Champions Online worked perfectly on my rig. I had everything turned up and 8 x anti-alaising.

In STO I had to turn some stuff down and it didn't even make much difference.

In STO the anti-aliasing option is greyed out stating that my "GPU is not supported" - but why?! AA worked perfectly for me! Even in Champions Online!

The only reason must be that Cryptic are unable to make AA work with their game engine properly.

I have the same issue but as mentioned before its lag thats causing it not rigs or graphics card. Look my spec lol I have TRI-Fire 4870s with 4GB GDDR5 and im getting the same as u:) Give it time, this beta is all about straightening out the kinks before release date

That's what they said about Champions Online - but I still had to cancel my subscription after 1 month. Even though I really liked the game - it became unplayable and things just kept getting worse.

    How?

I enabled AA in Catalyst but it still doesn't seem to apply AA when I'm in STO.

I'm experiencing a LOT more stuttering than I was before last night's patch. Every few seconds, the game skips around or out right stops for a second or two. Lowering settings doesn't see to help. :( The game ran better pre-patch.

    Specs
    Windows 7 64
    Geforce 285 (latest Nvidia drivers)
    6 GB of ram (1333)
    Core i7 920

Apparently it's better to use the 190 Nvidia drivers. If you downgrade to those it should fix the stuttering.

I have the stuttering too with

    Vista 64
    Core i7 @ 3,6GHz with 6GB 1666DDR3
    NVidia GF275 OC - Driver 191.x
Game installed on a dedicated WD VelociRaptor 300GB (>200MB/s and <3ms access times)

This machine runs everything else without an issue. In ground combat I must turn settings to low to have no stuttering. This is a little annoying, hopefully they will fix this. Next I try to downgrade the driver and see what happens.

Using 6 month old drivers is not a fix. Period. STO is NOT the only game most of us play. New games NEED new drivers. That simple. And the fact that this plagues their other MMO Champions Online still after months of people complaining and posting youtube videos with proof of what happens they still have not fixed it. I'm starting to wonder if I should cancel my pre order and save myself the hassle of dealing with a Dev that can't fix the issue in not just 1 but 2 of their games.

I'm getting HORRIBLE stuttering in the game, every couple seconds the entire game will freeze

Running an i7 920, gtx 275 with 12gb of ram

if I watch the task manager window in my other monitor, every time the game stutters the CPU usage for it drops by about 20% and then it goes back up. So something in how they are handling processor cores is totally hosed.

Well I bit the bullet. After reading the release notes to the 2 drivers upgrades passed 190.36 I decided to downgrade for the time being until Cryptic can fix this, or another game I play needs the newest.

As of now STO is maxed out completely with EVERY setting set to max and my 9800GTX is eating it like it's butter. This game is hot as hell when you can max it.

i only seem to get the stutter when on the earth station or other places of general people population.
i do not get it in space, on missions, or any other place really but populated places - if this makes sense....

it is not lag, and it is not drivers, it is client side and something is causing the stuttering.

I'm having the same issues as well with a rig that should handle the game no problem. Not only that but when monitoring my graphics card after the patch when inside earth station it is stressing my graphics card something serious. My GPU temp was at 89 degrees after about 10minutes of trying to figure out the issue I opened precision to see the GPU temp dangerously high and immediately turned fan speed to 100. My problem is exactly the same I had no issue when I first started an space an everything was fine. As soon as I came out of the admirals office I started having extreme stuttering.

    My Rig:
    AMD 955 Black Edition 3.2ghz
    4gb DDR3 OCZ Ram
    EVGA OC 275GTX
    Windows 7 64bit

Ground combat was running fantastic for me until what ever patch they put out in Open Beta.

Now I'm lucky to get through an away mission without crashing several times

My anti-aliasing option is greyed out stating that my "GPU is not supported" also but I have a Radeon HD 5750 any ideas if there is settings in the card options that fix this or if this is a game issue for now. I have seen others saying that other criptic games not having this issue, could the non beta version AA work?

I also have this problem, it's not lag or performance. I guess I'll try the driver downgrade but that's not a fix it's a work around.

    Make fix please!
