Fileplanet speed comparison? Fee vs. Free speed question.

Can someone tell me if it makes much difference other than just waiting in line or not, to pay for the $6.95 to download at 'faster speeds' and skip the que? If it's not much difference and still slow, I wont do it. I currently get 10-30kbps download speed while in que...and I'm fed up. Again, I'm talking about the subscription to fileplanet vs. the free download.

I used the torrent Cryptic released yesterday, blew fileplanet (free version) out of the water.

paid was dreadful, took me about 15hrs to download it all, speed jumped from 200 down to 60 and wandered all over the place, was not consistant at all, should have stuck with the torrent.

Yeah, it does make all the difference. It took me 20 hours to download the file, but some how it got corrupted and was missing the .exe file. So I got fed up and decided to pay the $7 for the subscription account. With the free account I was averaging 50-100KB/s. With the Paid account, I jumped up to 1.2MB/s. Unfortunately, the download was corrupted..again and is STILL missing the .exe file..... so maybe it wasn't worth it in the end....

I guess I got lucky with Filefront. I got the real thing, paid 7 bucks and ran at 600kb/s +/-
UTorrent was running at 115kb/s +/- for me before I went the Filefront route.
Regular D/L was running at like 30kb/s.

Using the free version on FilePlanet (IGN), after 24 hours, it was only at 2.7GB downloaded. By the time I got home this afternoon, the download had stopped and I was 512/2340 in the queue for some reason. I sucked it up and paid the fee. The download picked up from where it left off. Speed was steady from 800kb/s to 1000kb/s. Had the rest of it downloaded in 90 minutes, and that was at 6:30pm CST. My file, fortunately, wasn't corrupt though. =/ Otherwise, I'd probably still be waiting for it to download... so it sucks that I felt I had to pay to download the software I already paid for. On the flip side, I now have the account for when other software and patches I need are released.

I paid the 10 bucks and went from barely 50kb to almost 1.65mb. I had the 9.65gigs donw in less than and hour with the game patched etc. It was worth the 10 bucks to avoid the long wait and headaches.

    Hope that opinion helps.
