Hi, I started playing the open beta today, like most, and have run into a problem. I don't hear anything. I checked the audio options in-game and everything is at 100% and still, nothing. If I could get help with this I would appreciate it, thanks.

The sound files are mp3. What OS and Service Patch are you running?

Can you play MP3's? What is your Sound Card? Update you sound drivers. If that still doesn't work download this
    http://shark007.net/vistacodecpackage.html it works with XP.

Yes I can hear MP3's. I went to the realtek website and got the windows xp version of the hd drivers. Installed them and rebooted the computer. Went into STO and logged in and while it was loading my screen went black like my monitor shut off. Had to press the restart button on my tower. I didn't get any menu music at the character screen as well.

Run defrag. Are you sure those are the right drivers for you sound card? If you install the wrong ones that could crash your system.

Yeah, I think you should get those Realtek 97 HD audio drivers. I had an issue like this, I had to remove my old sound drivers first though.
