Steam launcher crash

Hello. I pre-ordered off Steam and downloaded the Star Trek Online - Beta to 100%. Whenever I attempt to run it (even as an administrator), there is a crash. It doesn't even allow me to type in my name, it crashes almost instantaneously.

    I verified my game files on Steam and it said one file could not be verified but would be reacquired. I don't know if it has to re-download or what. Can someone help?

    Re-downloaded and re-installed, and did update my drivers to the most current version.

    Verified Steam this time, did not have any corrupted or unverified files.

    I ran the client without the launcher and it seems to be working so far.

    I turned off Trend Micro Internet Security just in case it was messing with my connection. The launcher at first froze at the "attempting to update launcher" screen or whatever, then brought up the launcher that allows me to log in to update and then froze.

    Is there any way to update STO without using the launcher? I can access the game through the 'gameclient.exe' in the /Live subfolder.

    I put my old graphics card in, an 8600 GT. Same problem. Why has nobody responded? :/

    I torrented it and installed it from there and the launcher worked. :/
