When it comes to hardware issues, there isn't a lot that can be done prior to the hardware being pushed to breaking point to prevent it breaking. Today is pretty much the biggest part of pushing the hardware in OB, as everyone will start assaulting it today, and doing it all at the same time.
It's foolish to not expect the hardware to go down, when the entire point is to get it to go down so Cryptic can see why and work on making sure it wont happen again.

Exactly; complaining because an Open Beta client isn't running like a commercial client a year after release is completely inane.

This isn't Cryptic's first rodeo. The MMO industry has been around for what 15 years or more? Why is it that we excuse companies for launch (be it Open Beta or Live) for failures anymore. I for one expect more.
