I'm able to run the game acceptably, with many other ships around, with a card less then what the game requires. I'm using a 7900GS Mobile, and it works fine.
Generally speaking, I think that any SM 3.0 capable video card with reasonably good performance will be able to run this game.
I've got a GeForce 7130M/ nForce 630M graphics card/chipset with 128MB RAM. Do you think I'll face problem? i seem to run it OK on Low/Minimum setting but the graphics are terrible (jagged edges everywhere)

In order to run on something like that (as that's an integrated card), you're going to have to turn your settings all the way down pretty much. The fact that it runs at all is very encouraging. For best results, I'd knock down everything, and then maybe reduce resolution a little (perhaps to 1024x768?), and then maybe turn up texture detail a little and see how that does.

If you kept abreast in the old System Requirements thread, you'd see that we mentioned that card would be fine. The X1800 ATI requirement is good, but the 7950 NVIDIA requirement is overkill.

yeah, it does seem to runn on low/minimum the main decider on if it jerks or not seems to be the "half resolution setting" if it's on then the graphics look good, but stutters all over the place, half resolution, it's jagged like a broken glass window but runs pretty smooth
^ Quite honestly the game will look really, really horrid at those settings.
Why not just drop even $140 on a 5750 or so and get a huge improvement?
I would, but it's an integrated chipset video card on a laptop, so can't purchase an additional one/upgrade it. I have been looking it there is any such thing as an external video card/graphics card that can be plugged in via USB or the ExpressCard slot on HP laptops to speed it up, but can't see anything as of yet
The minimum just the lowest card we will test on, and the lowest card we will care if it has graphical issues. Other can, and will, work but we make no promises about specifics.

Thanks Mr Ranger! much appriciated with the response
Yeah, I've got a Geforce 7800 GTX with 1GB video ram, which is IIRC, 1 model below the "cutoff" so I'm hoping for decent play until I build a new PC this spring.

Yup, should have no problems. Cryptic might not want to promise anything with older cards, but I personally know that card will do just fine. In fact, you can even go as low as a 7600 GT (I tested it and it was fine for a 1280x1024 resolution at moderate settings). But a 7800 is fine, as it's even faster.
