Can you post the System Information, Display Devices, and Sound Devices sections of your Dxdiag report please.

    1. From the Windows key click *Start* menu, then click *Run*. If you are running Vista/7 you will not need to click *Run*
    2. In the *Open* box, type: dxdiag (hit enter). If you are running Vista/7 just start typing: dxdiag (hit enter)
    3. If this is your first time running dxdiag, click *Yes* to launch the DirectX Diagnostic Tool.
    4. Click *Save All Information* to create a dxdiag report.
    5. Copy the System, Display and Sound section and post your results.

    Sincerely,

    ethanw74,

Try changing the Display mode to Fullscreen, then see if you can change your video settings. If you still can't change your resolution or refresh rate, try launching the game as an administrator.

To launch the game in Admin mode, go to the install folder and right click on the "Star Trek Online.exe" file and try running the file as an Administrator.

Of if you are running XP

Please try running the game as an administrator

To run the game as an administrator

    1. Browse to the folder where the game was installed

    2. Right-Click on the "Star Trek Online.exe" executable and choose Run as...

    3. Select the "Run as the following user" option and use computer's administrator user name and password

    Sincerely,
    The Champions Online team

5850, fresh drivers on a fresh install of win 7 ult

Same issue. Running it maximized defeats the purposes of 2560x1600 res, and 1024 is too small.

The fastest gaming laptop that G4 ever reviewed was the Asus stealth bomber one, and it costs about $1600.

Also... I can't seem to change my resolution either. In any screen mode.

Same problem here. ATI 4870 (Last drivers) in a gamming pc, really annoying. Any change i want to make on the video settings it gives me a crash

D3DERR_INVALIDCALL while resetting the device.(x,xx memory available). Really can not change the resolution neither in full or windowed screen. I won't play this game in 1280*1024. I also updated my directx to JUN 2010 version, no success.

Is really that simple, there is a config/ini file to do it manually, at least the resolution, other options could wait for a patch if there would be one.

    Thanks, Gracias!!!!

D3D Errors are really nothing the game can correct as this is a communication between your driver and the DirectX API. Attach your dxdiag to a post there might be something in there that might give us an answer.

To create a DXDiag report, follow these steps:

    1. Click "Start" menu, then click "Run"
    2. In the "Open" box, type: DXDiag (hit enter)
    3. If this is your first time running DXDiag, click "Yes" to launch the DirectX Diagnostic Tool.
    4. Click "Save All Information" to create a DXDiag report.
    5. Choose a name and location for the dump file (recommend desktop) and click "Save".

install the drivers for your motherboards chipset and also the newest version of the driver for your
    machines video card.

If you go to start > run and type dxdiag do you have Direct Draw and Direct
3D acceleration enabled or not available? If you have the option here to enable these, do so.

**Special note** if it is a Intel series graphics card, then you can expect a lot of "issues".
