no sound at all

I have a realtek HD audio device in my computer, and Ive played champions online and also had the same problem because since they're made by cryptic im only going to assume they used the same sound hardware. My question is, is there anyway to fix this besides getting a new sound device, and is crypitc going to fix this problem that shouldn't be happening in the first place.

So you have the latest realtek HD drivers installed? Im assuming you do, but it's a simple mistake people can make.

Reason i ask is because im running the latest Realtek HD drivers from http://downloads.guru3d.com/Realtek-HD-Audio-2.40-Driver-download-2453.html and am having no problems at all.

This was the temporary fix for it over on CO forums. You have to be on the launcher, click Options, and in the "Advanced command line" box, paste this: -ignorex64check

Of course, you will probably crash from using it, however:

Can you post the System Information, Display Devices, and Sound Devices sections of your Dxdiag report please.

    1. From the Windows key click *Start* menu, then click *Run*. If you are running Vista/7 you will not need to click *Run*
    2. In the *Open* box, type: dxdiag (hit enter). If you are running Vista/7 just start typing: dxdiag (hit enter)
    3. If this is your first time running dxdiag, click *Yes* to launch the DirectX Diagnostic Tool.
    4. Click *Save All Information* to create a dxdiag report.
    5. Copy the System, Display and Sound section and post your results.

    Sincerely,
    Cryptic Studios Technical Support

Using a Realtek and Vista 64 bit.

While you guys have a look I'm going to try the workaround with the 64bit check.

    Thanks in advance,
    Steph

Edit: This was the temporary fix for it over on CO forums. You have to be on the launcher, click Options, and in the "Advanced command line" box, paste this: -ignorex64check

Of course, you will probably crash from using it, however it gets the sound back until Realtek or Cryptic fixes it for 64-bit users.

Some have stopped the crashes caused by the temporary fix by moving the hardware acceleration slider in windows one notch below full.

    Hi,

It turns out I did have the wrong drivers, checked my logs and it seems there was a fault when I tried to update them over Christmas.

Corrected it and now my drivers are up to date and I have sound, apologies for wasting your time.

    Steph

I've kept my hardware acceleration as-is (on full), and am using the -ignorex64check workaround. No crashes as of yet. If you need alternate ftp locations to download the newest "Realtek HD" sound drivers, download them here for 2.40:

    http://hotfile.com/dl/22429217/af35851/WDM_R240.exe.html
    ftp://majorgeeks.mirror.internode.on.net/drivers/WDM_R240.exe
    http://rapidshare.com/files/328234520/WDM_R240.exe
    http://downloads.guru3d.com/Realtek-HD-Audio-2.40-Driver-download-2453.html

Because, the official ftp is a pain to download from.

Anyone find a solution for this one?

It looks like, while the Windows 7/Vista 64 solution is to update the drivers, the Windows XP 64 bit issue is different.
