i have 2 ati radeon 4850 graphics cards in cross fire mode, when i load sto it tells me the graphics drivers are out of date that it may run poorly or not at all, ive downloaded the most up to date drivers for my cards and operating system and it still tells me there out of date, is this going to cause me a problem playing sto?

I have the same issue with a Radeon HD 4770 runing under XP64. I have the latest available driver already installed but well...when i got into the options menu screen this warning message kept being displayed in the lower left section of the screen. Please dont tell me that my OS wont work with STO..

I wouldn't worry guys/girls. I read a review earlier this week of the Closed Beta. The reviewer had the exact same issue at start. He chose the limited option and he said it still looked great and played fine.

Funny, my 4870s with the latest drivers works flawlessly?

Try disabling crossfire? I hear many games don't like crossfire or SLI for no apparent reason on certain OSes.

    STO Minimum System Specs:

    OS: Windows XP SP2 / Windows Vista / Windows 7 (32 or 64-bit)
CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo 1.8 Ghz or AMD Athlon X2 3800+
    Memory: 1GB RAM
Video: NVIDIA GeForce 7950 / ATI Radeon X1800 / Intel HD Graphics
    Sound: DirectX 9.0c Compatible Soundcard
    DirectX: Version 9.0c or Higher
    HDD: 10GB Free Disk Space
    Network: Internet Broadband Connection Required
    Disc: 6X DVD-ROM

It MIGHT just run it, who knows. Just very slowly and unsupported, I'm sorry to say.

Only issue i got is that it says AA is not available for my card? Dual 4870's? No other issue. I can max out all the other settings. I guess i can force it through catalyst.

For anyone having issues with AA in the settings, don't worry. It's a temporary fix to a problem that is being worked on as we speak.

SInce it only appears with Nvidia cards, and we all know how prickly Nvidia drivers are, let's speak very....very....slowly....

I am not too worried. I can force it through catalyst.

But I use xp sp2. Dual 4870's. And my ATI driver isnt the most recent. No issues.

So unsure what is causing the others the ATI issues.

9.6! hehe. Yeah, been awhile. However I dont update drivers less I have a reason to. Sometimes they can be so finicky.

But it worked well. I figure i will see whats up once I actually get to play.

I couldn't get DirectX 10 to work in any game until the Catalyst 9.11 drivers came out. It was a very long wait in DX 9 land, I think it almost took them a year to fix it.

    Windows 7 x64
    Radion 4850
    i7 920 with 9GB RAM
