Looking for something new to play? I've started building Foundry missions again in visual novel form!
Star Trek Online is releasing a brand new Task Force Operation with the launch of Star Trek Online: Unparalleled! Called “Borg Battle Royale,” this TFO will charge you with facing increasingly difficult waves of Borg, and see how long you can survive. Similar to both the Kobayashi Maru and Arena of Sompek TFOs, the event version of this TFO will end at a predetermined point – level 7. However, once the event is over, the TFO will have no set end, and Captains will see how long they can last against the Federation’s ultimate enemy. Ready your resistance.
Sigh.
So you're going to introduce brand new content and not let people actually play it - they're only allowed to stand around for a minute or two while someone's Agony turret or Security army kills what few and weak enemies will appear in those few rounds.
Give us at least the option to play the full version during the event. Let players choose what they want to play or you might as well hand them the event progress for free.
What's the point of promoting content, new content even, if it cannot be played in full?
If we can't play the mission in full during the event, I'm just going to ignore it entirely and get progress some other way.
I'd rather play Infected Space for the 47 millionth time than be forced to play something where we're not allowed to... You know, really play. Whoever's making these decisions needs to rethink them, cause they're making very little sense.
Already posted a topic with an updated ninja build.
Let's do some brainstorming on how to improve our ground builds for this TFO.
This program, though reasonably normal at times, seems to have a strong affinity to classes belonging to the Cat 2.0 program. Questerius 2.7 will break down on occasion, resulting in garbage and nonsense messages whenever it occurs. Usually a hard reboot or pulling the plug solves the problem when that happens.
As i understand, it is a Sompek TFO (arena ground) but with a focus on mirror Borg.

Brand New Task Force Operation – Borg Battle Royale
A new 5 Captain Ground TFO.
A holodeck simulation of fighting waves of Borg allows captains to gain experience in small teams holding off increasingly dangerous groups of Borg enemies of all types. The event version will last 12 rounds.
After the Season event ends, an infinite round version will be available.
If i have to guess, the sompek and competitive TFO played in a Holo simulation created by the cooperative.
Maybe the picture points at that. OR the cooperative has been taken over..

It does not sound very interesting, like a rust-age superhero comic or the classic "noob GM" D&D scenario that starts with "you are in a tavern, see, and, like, ya know, this fight breaks out...", but there are rough spots in everything. I suppose it would be somewhat useful as a ground DPS testing thing, though I don't imagine it will be used for much else and will probably end up as the option few if any take in future multiple-choice events.

The season announcement and graphic shows a new type of Borg corresponding to another alternate universe (there's more than just the one), with notable purple theming (and a wannabe gravemind behind them). Ie. each of the three cubes in the graphic represents one of the Borg types we'll be cycling through in the TFO. Prime, Mirror, New Bois.
Remember, cooperative cubes are 1: much blockier & smoother than standard (different model) and 2. teal blue. This is a standard Borg cube with purple accent lighting and an ominous doom cloud. Ie. New Bois.

Thank you.
I had thought the same, but the picture at the top of the blog of Cubes and a Galaxy Class threw me.
So unlike STO to be vague and ambiguous with communications.
Yes, the confusion is totally understandable.
The announcement for the next season already said it would be a ground TFO, but the picture in this post left me wondering as well.
