So this is the ship that attacked the Enterprise in the TOS episode Journey to Babel?
According to the OP's linked page STO apparently considers them to be, though visual evidence says otherwise. They use the same general drive technology as the TOS-R Intruder with the contrarotating and ring elements (which in soft canon has aways been a technology some Orions have been able to hold on to after their ancient civilization collapsed, hard canon has nothing at all about it so far), and a similar hull shape.
While the D'Var gives the impression of being a bit larger than the Intruder, they are close enough in looks to be different specializations sharing the same base hull. It will be interesting to see if the devs went with Orion phasers or KDF disruptors for its default armament.

Now if they would make the Intruder from TOS and put it in the cstore where I could get it for all my other Orions...
Next year's perhaps?
