2022 - Cruiser Beam Boat build

ninjaboy0ninjaboy0 Member Posts: 44 Arc User
What is the absolute best beam boat PvE cruiser (any type of cruiser) build for 2022 spare no expense?

Past years I built some of the best monster Intel and vanilla PvP cruiser boats but there is so much TRIBBLE added to the game in the last few years it's like doing a Calc IV exam.

Trying to sort through it all for an insane solo min/max beam boat build for PvE too.

Maybe one torp in the front as a few other vids suggest?

It would be nice to stick to Intel based (but not completely mandatory) so I can switch easily to PvP without much fuss.

Think your ship might be listed on a link recently posted in another thread.

Having room for Mixed Armaments Synergy and Narrow Sensor Bands might be desirable for the bonus damage, and perhaps Override Subsystem Safeties for the extra power.

Thanks guys. Are there any specific "must have" special trait BOs that are great for a beam boat build?

    Bridge officers or duty officers?

For bridge officers, no, not really. There are basically two ideal loadouts, depending on if your captain is Romulan or not... for any weapons-based build (because the traits give critical hit and/or damage bonuses), but it is not specific to which type of weapons.

    Romulan: All SRO.

Non-Romulan: SRO on all Tactical seats (via Fleet Embassy), Jem'Hadar Vanguard (if available) on first Science and Engineer seats, then fill remaining seats with Pirate trait* BOFFs.

Optionally, you could also use other Fleet BOFFs with space traits (such as Kentari); this will be necessary if you are Federation or Federation-allied Jem'Hadar AND do not have access to the JHVs.

    * Pirate trait is available from the episode-reward Heirarchy Science BOFF, and all Nausicaan BOFFs. Federation, or Federation-allied Jem'Hadar, can get one Nausicaan via the Diplomacy reward BOFF (I would suggest choosing the Engineer). KDF and KDF-allied Jem'Hadar can get unlimited Nausiccans as they are one of the default KDF races.

Awesome - I am looking for Bridge Officers that have space traits that could enhance their effectiveness for this build while slotted in their respective slots for space combat.

I know there were so many new and missed BOs I did not have that I wanted to go back to find them, train them, and start slotting them.

The BOFFs I mentioned, you're basically looking at three space traits: (listed in preference order)

"Superior Romulan Operative" : +2 Critical Hit Chance, +5 Critical Severity. Available only on Romulan/Reman BOFFs; Romulan-faction captains can obtain unlimited through normal recruiting methods, non-Romulan-faction captains can obtain Tactical (only) via Fleet Embassy BOFF vendor.

"Engineered Soldier (Space)" : +1 Critical Hit Chance, +2.5 Critical Severity, +5% (cat1) Damage (weapons-only). Available only on Jem'Hadar Vanguard C-Store BOFFs (one each of Tactical, Science, Engineering provided as part of the Gamma expansion bundle).

"Pirate" : +1.5% (cat2) Damage. Available on (episode reward) Hierarchy Science BOFF and all Nausicaan BOFFs. Hierarchy Science is available to everyone. Klingon-faction captains can obtain unlimited Nausicaans through normal recruiting methods; non-Klingon-faction can obtain one Nausicaan via Diplomacy reward BOFF vendor.

Thank you. This is extremely helpful. I am going to start with these three and then look at the cloaking options for my Intel ships. I usually only play Fed so it sounds like that isn't even applicable.

Here's some more common active duty doffs that work quite nicely.

Emergency Conn Hologram Resets evasive maneuvers on use of emergency power to engines. From Phoenix prize pack.

Technician 3 needed for use with 2 copies of Auxiliary to Battery for bridge officer ability cooldown. From exchange or free from B'Tran Cluster doffing.

Neal Falconer From Phoenix prize pack.

    Elder Malik'itan From Gamma recruit.

Agent Nerul or Space Warfare Specialist Restores hull.

Fabrication Engineer Increases the duration of Reverse Shield Polarity.

    For larger budgets -

Energy Weapons Officer CrtH variant and CrtD variant. KDF recruits get So'Beknef'ru for free

Liberated Borg Specialist Duty Officer I don't use these but have read that some of them work very well but can be expensive.

Further resources, reading and good advice - Beam ships and Cannon ships and more handy guides.

You may want to consider a Gagarin Fleet Shepard Miracle Worker Battlecruiser if just starting out in putting together a serious ship. It's very well balanced and a joy to Captain even as a straightforward build. But after making the effort to add some of the things being discussed in this thread it honestly can perform almost as good as anything in the game. All this for only $30. That can leave a lot on the table for boffs, active duty doffs, genetic resequencer space traits, starship traits, weapons, and fancy consoles. It's possibly the best PvE cruiser in the game when it comes to bang per buck and can be a great template for future builds.
