How about selling ship cosmetics for dil? There are a bunch of ships with T5 and T6 variants. Why not sell a variant's "look" for a single character for dilithium. I think that people might go for that when they wouldn't buy a ship, and it scales with the number of characters a player has.

It’s been broken for seven months. How much more time do you think the developers deserve to “determine a proper course of action”?
I think they may have tried to fix it with the endeavor reroll token fiasco, and realized a substantive solution is too much work. It is back to developing lockboxes and “easy-win” systems for Cryptic Gearbox Studio.

I hear you bud. Personally, I would like a solution sooner rather than later too.
However, development time is alloted based on what is most profitable for the company, meaning the developers aren't likely to expend significant recurring dev-time to keep the economy in check. Also, as mentioned in several dev streams, development is planned out months in advance. So adding something in like fixing the game's economy wouldn't likely be added to the short term schedule.
This is a complex issue with numerous causes all adding up to a trashed economy. Which, unfortunately, doesn't provide enough incentive for the company to prioritize fixing (as observed by the lack of action taken).
Like I stated, just gonna have to ride this out and hope the devs come out with a fix that works before any significant (permanent) damage is done to the game economy.
They seem pretty fine with the state of the economy while proclaiming that times have never been better. The DilEx turned into a one-way street to exchange Zen for Dil, the former needs to be bought with real money. The system seems to work 🙃

Maybe not from the start, but at the very least keeping it functional was clearly no priority whatsoever ever since they push Zen sales and bundles. In regards to that, it is probably working as intended NOW after their metrics and indices showed it's more profitable this way

Agreed. The obvious silence and lack of comment regarding the DilEx situation says more about their attitude toward it than the (pointless) words of their PR mouthpieces could.
They knew the DilEx crisis was coming and they had to have known for some time. The cause and effect relationship between the DilEx situation and the Zen demand driving it is very simple.
The fact is they've continued to throw out back-to-back sales, FOMO events with Zen-driven buyouts, and expensive bundles knowing full well that it couldn't do anything other than make the DilEx issue worse, and at this point it's difficult to imagine a good-faith explanation as opposed to some mix of willful disregard or malign intent towards the F2P economy.
One thing I've been wondering all this time is if the back to back to back sales were because of the fact that Magic Legends failed, so in order to fuel the refunds for the game & make back the money that they weren't making, they continually pushed those sales. I mean, they kind of control when they want things to release, but not necessarily when exactly to make sales happen.

This type of constant sale cadence has pretty much been the norm since the "Age Of Discovery" days - so it predates the MtG game failure. They just know (IE have metrics) that show this type of sale cadence works well to generate profit (and if it didn't, you can bet they would alter it.)
And I say the fact they were able to afford two series leads (Sonequa Martin-Green and most recently Kate Mulgrew), not to mention all the actual supporting cast of the new series; they are making what they consider a good profit as that level of VO talent isn't cheap; and they wouldn't be going for higher priced talent if the profit margin didn't support it.
(And yes, the game did start off with Leonard Nimoy and Zachary Quinto; but I will bet you CBS/Paramount paid for that as a way to further market ST09's release to video and general Star Trek merchandise as it was a time they (CBS/Paramount) were trying once again to 'grow the franchise'.)

A nice thing to have and sink dil into, would be some sort of ARMADA holding. Should be accesible to all fleets in the armada and be some kind of hub for other fleet holdings. It should have modules, that allow access to other fleet holdings vendors and other things those holdings offer... and ofc the fleets would require to dump massive amounts of dil, to activate those fleet holding modules... just brainstorming, nevermind me.
