Nova/Rhode Island Model Update Confirmed

An absolutely STUNNING remaster!
With this news I thought it sensible to start a new thread. The old thread has really run it's course now, since it was more to highlight the need for the class to be remastered/given the T6 treatment. Granted, there isn't a T6 version (yet?) but I, personally, can live with that - my biggest beef with the fact they ignored it for so long was the terrible quality of the old model, which is highlighted in the linked blog.
As for a T6 version - who knows? I assume there will be one as I have a very hard time believing Cryptic would've put so much Dev time and effort into remastering the ship with no ROI.
But I guess there isn't any harm in discussing what we'd like to see them do with a possible T6 version of it.

I don't think a Legendary would go over very well, personally. Since that would lock out all but the biggest whales from ever getting it.
Normal T6 yes. Legendary? Not likely. We do have ships with access to the "legendary" hull materials that do not have a Legendary, like the Prometheus and Steamrunner.
@reyan01 would you like the old one closed now if it hasn't already? And I hope when this comes out you take plenty of screenshots to show off your remodeled Nova in all her glory. This has been a long time coming, and I think you earned a bit of a showcase of your favorite ship.

A Legendary won't happen YET, but once there's a normal T6 available I think a Legendary would certainly be possible eventually as at that point it would have somewhat of an in-game lineage, as well as being a ship that carried an episode.
Considering it was a 'short-ranged' science vessel, I think a Scout class-Intel layout would be most appropriate. I can see it being Raider class with Pilot layout also due to it's ability to fly through atmosphere better than the Intrepid. They are spoilt for choice. Miracle worker just doesn't suit it, and would make it more powerful than the C-Store Intrepid, which in canon, it is not.
Imma raise a beer for Reyan. Good job being loud about this all this time.

At the moment its more coincidence. Don't forget that it took at least one season before we got something from Discovery and Lower Decks. Until more evidence is given... its just coincidence.
The same could be said of the Prometheus. No legendary for her yet either. She got a model revamp, and access to the "legendary" hull materials and didn't get a Legendary. Steamrunner also got a revamp and access to those hull materials. And I'm pretty sure the Akira and Luna did as well when they were revamped.
A model revamp doesn't always mean a Legendary is coming for that line. It just means that the model's been updated to current standards and more in line with the canon counterpart.
I'm actually reminded of some of the old Armada 2 mods that were model replacements for existing things like ships.
The quality was so high... you wouldn't believe it was the same game when you compared the models to the stock ones. Same thing here. Comparing the new model with the old, launch era model... you'd swear it was a different game.
Hell, some of these model updates over the years happened before there were even T6 versions, nevermind legendaries. (I point to the Constellation-class as one that got revamped and is still T6-less.)

Yep, and Thomas himself said he could see an argument for giving the Prometheus a Legendary at some point. I'm not saying a Legendary Nova is gonna happen any time soon, only that I think it's a good possibility somewhere down the line.
It definitely looks really awsome now. While I don't have "one favorite" ship of all time, the Nova has always been close to my heart. It'd be the ship I would love to command. Not too many people to manage, and planetary research seems pretty neat to me as an assignment.
It is just speculation at this point. On one hand, CBS has apparently been working better with STO then it has in the past, like the fact that the STO Kirk model is basically the CBS model modified to STO standards. On the other hand, Prodigy is a cartoon and they have said that it's harder to adapt the cartoon stuff to STO's style. On the other hand, the Parliament is in game now, so progress on that has been made. So, who knows. We'll just have to wait and see. But it wouldn't surprise me if CBS and Cryptic decided to try and get the Protostar in game close to Prodigy's premier in order to try and get people from STO to watch Prodigy when it starts. Again, just speculation.
Back to the model update itself, it does look a lot better in the Before/After shots. May have to have some of my Sci chars try and get the Fleet T5 version. Not sure if I've got Rhode Island version or not. Might have gotten it from a giveaway code.
Since only the model/texture is being updated (for now) the OP already *has* it.
There's only 4 versions of it ingame. Normal and Refit T2, Fleet and mirror for T5(U)
Unless i am missing something there is no mention of a T6 version, but this may happen if/when the Nova/Rhode Island is featured in a new patrol or mission.
Do the devs realize that instead of the familiar questions/requests for a T6 Nova they will soon(ish) be bombarded with an avalanche of NEW questions/requests?
One or two of them might have realized after they published the related newsblog. And these were not the ones who *should* realize it.
Well... look at some of the past ships that got a model revamp. The Luna was untouched for years, then not only got a remodel, but a T6. The Steamrunner also got a T6 alongside a model revamp.
On the other hand the Prometheus and Akira both got a model revamp while already having a T6.
In all honesty I'm leaning towards a T6 Nova coming soon as Cryptic has said there are more ships coming. The problem is that when Cryptic says that, most people jump to conclusions and conspiracy theories rather than just take a wait and see approach. I'd say the likelyhood of a T6 Nova is pretty high right now.
Not to mention the stuff modders did for Starfleet Command 3 and Birth of the Federation (which I still play!).
I speculate the first favorite is the Intrepid-class?
