Admiralty Stats

TAC: 62
SPECIAL: +35 TAC when ALONE

Console – Universal – Tricobalt Tear Launcher
A starship equipped with this console is capable of firing a barrage of high yield tricobalt warheads at a distant target. Upon reaching their target destination these warheads will detonate causing massive damage to any starships unfortunate to be caught in the blasts. These detonations cause a large subspace tear to appear and damage and disable nearby enemy starships.

This console also provides a passive boost to Shield Penetration and Projectile Weapon Damage.

Experimental Weapon: Hull Spike Battery
This experimental piece of weaponry was designed to deal catastrophic damage to a target starship's hull by bypassing its shields entirely and then drilling through the starship's armoring directly into the vulnerable starship components. This translates as a large spike of immediate damage, followed by an ongoing damage-over-time effect.

Starship Trait: Piercing Projectiles
While this trait is slotted, activating a Torpedo or Mine firing mode Bridge Officer ability will grant a large Shield Penetration and Hull Penetration bonus for a short time.

For 15 seconds, when activating Torpedo or Mine Firing Modes:
+200 Starship Hull Penetration Skill
+200 Starship Shield Penetration Skill
** All details, stats, and features subject to change.

Coming to the C-Store next week both individually and as part of a Ships of the Line bundle.

Here's the VOD if anyone wants to watch or listen to it, stream was about an hour and twenty minutes long.

I was really hoping for a trait to Make Tricobalts Great Again...oh well, another year they remain a completely useless torpedo/mine type.

I am not disputing that you are correct, but could you explain to us a bit what makes the Tricobalt useless?

Roughly same base damage as a quantum, 5x the CD - and since they come out targetable no matter what, they also have a nasty habit of misfiring.

Some of the speciality ones are decent, like the TDD - but overall, Tricobalt is in an even worse place than Transphasic.

Seriously, tho, I'm sold on this ship based on the console's Armada 2 reference alone

    What's a TDD?

Hmm, I went to the wiki and looked at the Tricobalt Torpedo page . There is a chart at the bottom that lists most or all of the various torpedo types, and I don't see anything that looks like TDD.

It does list the Temporal Disruption Device under the Chroniton category.

I think the only thing I have ever bought from the Lobi store is a Ferenghi Energy Whip, for my KDF tac. I look and look, but all the Lobi stuff just seems, meh meh mediocre. I know there is one ground weapon that was considered OP back in the day, but I haven't heard anyone mention it for ages. The Energy Whip is fun, but not especially potent.

Good news, there's a ship sale just before you can buy this! /snark

Actually, the new sale takes place in the past, so only temporal agents can take advantage of it. /double-snark!

    https://www.arcgames.com/en/games/star-trek-online/news/detail/11498403-20%-ship-sale!

"From August 12th at 8am PT (17:00 CEST) to August 16th at 10am PT (19:00 CEST), we are having a 20% ship sale."

Tricos used to be the absolute heavy hitter of torpedoes and mines. Longer cooldown, but massive spike damage.

They got "balanced" sometime in the past because people were using them to obliterate the Transwarp Gate in Infected without bothering to deal with the generators. The spike was so sharp that it overwhelmed the gate's HP Regen given by the generators.

The balance pass supposedly meant they still do the same damage. However they basically nerfed the damage output but reduced the cooldown to "maintain the same DPS". If I remember correctly. So they aren't the spike damage dealers they once were.

This looks amazing the most excited I have been for a ship since last years carriers. Both the trait and new console look really good. Cannot wait to use them on my shield pen and Tricobalt build. Tricobalts mines are a core of my builds used on almost every ship due to how good they are and more importantly how much fun they are to use.

Just wish the Tricobalt shared cooldowns got fixed as they are effectively in a broken state. Tricobalt torps are pretty useless. Tricobalt mines and Tricobalt Cluster torps are great.

That was the idea but the devs broke the shared cooldowns so its impossible to use more then 2 Tricobalt mines and 2 Tricobalts torpedoes and even that doesnt work correctly as the mines set the torps into cooldown and the torps set the mines into cooldown. Basically the devs destroyed Tricobalt themed builds by limiting the amount of Tricobalt weapons you can use and no one wants to use Tricobalt tactical consoles when you can only fit a limited amount of Tricobalt weapons.

Wait.. so that's an AoE 10 second full-disable per warhead? You could probably alternate that with the Titan console for some serious Disable-spam(which is fantastic for torpedo/mine builds; no shields = LOTS of damage).
I guess my two questions left are:
1.) Are the warheads targetable things that can be shot down?
2.) Are the rifts classified as anomalies/do they scale with EPG?

..I might have to build a new projectile boat/break out the Ytijara for this..

I love the remaster of the Steamrunner, it's most welcome (although the impusle engines look a little chunkier than I think they should, but whatever, I'll take it).

I do not like the T6's look at all, it is way too conventional looking and lacks any of the oddball charm of the original. I hope that the T6 comes with the T5 costume option in the ship customizer without having to buy the T5 also to get it. If it doesn't I will have to give the ship a reluctant pass even though it is one I have wanted for while now.

Since it's coming with a Ships of the Line option I'm going to say probably not, though we'll have to wait for people to buy it and confirm.
