New Genesis bundle details

https://www.arcgames.com/en/games/star-trek-online/news/detail/11489623-it's-time-for-a-new-genesis

Not interested in the Oberth, only slightly interested in the Malachowski, but account unlocks for the TWoK era Lobi store uniforms AND phaser pistol are included so I'll be buying it just for those.

I find it odd how they didn't give it the phased cloak ability like one of the Sovereign ships or at least make the console compatible with this ship.

USS Clarke was the Malachowski-class Starship present at Battle of the Binary Stars. Not the only one (USS Sioux, was a member of the same class), but the most prominent one (the Clarke was both seen and its name was spoken in dialogue).

    Good memory!

I had plans to get the Mudd pack.

    Had.

Then I saw the lobi outfits.

    I'm sold! Gimme gimme.

That... is an interesting point because of the Pegasus. I'll pass that along.

Hmm. I wonder how "By the Book" might interact - or not - with "Improved Gravity Well"...

re: the "By the Book" duration increase being capped at double the "original duration", while IGW increases by quite a bit more than that already...

I'm going to guess that it doesn't prolong the gravity well under Improved Gravity Well. Because it already doubles the time of the Gravity Well and that is the limit for the new Trait. Though the new Trait seems better since it works on all Anomalies.

These are normal C-Store ships, so you can buy the Oberth separately as well.

I honestly never noticed the Clarke at the Battle of the Binary Stars, I always thought the Malachowski was an original Cryptic design 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Nope. She's a legit, canon design.

I'm guessing it's named after the US explorer William Clark (though his name is typically spelled without the "e") though the Scifi writer Arthur C. Clarke could also be the namesake and there the the spelling matches with the name of the ship class too.

EDIT:That said it's a fairly common surname so there's plenty of people who it could be named after both in and out of universe.

Just out of curiosity: Does this mean the Oberth getting a visual overhaul like most other old ships have at this point? Would very much appreciate it, the level of detail of those reworks is amazing.

On another note: Which ships are now left without T6 treatment? Nova, Saber, Steamrunner, ... ?

Point 1: Yes. And apparently will have both TMP era and TNG era variant parts for the Oberth alongside the Grissom parts.

Point 2: At least. Although Kael did point out that it was surprising that there hasn't been much in the way of requests for a T6 Saber. Mostly Nova.

There's also the Norway Class, which is a canon ship that is completely absent from the game.

The Oberth revamp is actually already ingame on the T1 variant, the TNG parts are really just a glowing version of the TMP nacelles.

I am wishing they at least gave the Oberth a LtCom universal boff seat, the lack of this kind of seating does lower the variety of boff seating.

I remember the TNG Oberth being much bigger than the TMP one.

I meant in terms of implementation in STO, if there IS a Canon size difference they wouldn't incorporate that into the same ship due to how the hit box works. That's why the various connies are all different ships.

if the unis are in the lobi store I'll go that route. unless the Oberth is better fitted for sci magic than the legendary intrepid, then I'll think about it. I really don't want to buy any more bundles. if they stop being successful, then returning ships by themselves in the C-Store willbe thier option

They are, but unlike normal Lobi uniforms the box is BoP so you can't get it off the exchange. You gotta spend your own Lobi to get them, and they are only a single character unlock that way.

They made it very clear, both in the Livestream and on the blog, that these ships are also available individually:

"Please note: these two ships will also be available as separate purchases outside the New Genesis Bundle."

I just want to stay thank you! Thanks to all who put this bundle together! It's going to be so funny to see this little Oberth-class zooming around the quadrant again, taking on borg cubes one-on-one.

My thanks to everyone on the team who helped make this possible!

The console of the Grissom sounds nice but I wonder if -20 power each second isn't a bit excessive for a max 20 seconds duration, especially since apparently only manual aux boosts work.

Let's say you have 125 aux power, you activate the console, so you have 6 seconds at the very best to activate a large auxiliary battery, giving you 5 more seconds max. This automatically bars the Red Matter Capacitor from being used as the battery gives it a 30-second shared cooldown, but you can still use Emergency Power to Auxiliary which gives you 40 power maximum at rank III, so 2 more seconds, even with the EPS Manifold Efficiency trait since it only gives 10 more power.

So, that's only a 13-second duration with manual activations.

Now, with a dedicated battery cooldown Doff, you should be able to use the RMC for 1 more second of duration. So 14-second duration.

For the last 6 seconds, I can only guess having the luck to have one of the Strength Through Unity MW Liberated Borg Doff trait kicks in, but it's not a manual ability, unless the console counts as an hostile power drain and activates other MW passives.

Not to mention that ships that have that much aux power, usually need it to make their other abilities effective.

Seems kind of useless to sacrifice the damage potential of all other abilities and consoles that are boosted by aux power just to use on clicky power.

Thats good to hear. missed the line stating that. now knowing that the malachowski will have costume options with miranda parts makes it more interesting though ;-) so ill probably go for the bundle now.

If you put the console on an Intel ship how much would OSS help?
