Simply not reading their posts works great for me. The more they write the easier it gets even.

As you're scrolling down and you see ( person you want to block ) in the info block above their post you can scroll right past their text to the next person's info block. You'll never see those words then. Many people also have an icon to make spotting them easier, like the window I throw people out of.
There is an old script for greasemonkey/monkeywrench (browser extension) called the Vanilla Forum Extension. This introduces a block function amongst others. It's development however stopped years ago and it requires a few additional steps to function properly, but if you go the extra mile it still works.
