Could you please look into removing the ability to target Starbase One during the TFO? When you are trying to target the escaping ships to help them a lot of times you target the base instead of the ship. Besides, really there is no point to being able to target the base as no part of the mission involves aiding it.
PS4 here. That has literally never happened to me. I didn't even know you could! There is no point in being able to target the base, nor is their any point in being able to target the escaping ships. When they take damage you are given an onscreen prompt, then you just need to fly near that ship and the option to transfer power comes up automatically.

I play on xbox and pc. I usually try to hit the escaping ships with a Hazard emitter and Eng. Team as soon as they start to make their run seeing as they don't start out with full health. That's why the targeting of the base makes a difference
If I am within 5km of the starbase and try to manually target someone, friendly or enemy, I end up targeting the base. I completely agree with the OP.
Similarly I think targeting DS9 in Counterpoint should be removed because there is no point to that either, and it also makes it difficult to target enemy ships manually.
And while they are at it, maybe they could finally fix the S31 Battlecruiser so it's targeting box doesn't take up the whole map. Im too the point that if I see someone flying one in a TFO, I just leave to spare myself the frustration.

Targetting DS9 is a necessity! It accepts healing, essential when you are not in a team of Uber-dps. But SB1 is a pain when you're trying to throw a heal to the transports.
"You don't want to patrol!? You don't want to escort!? You don't want to defend the Federation's Starbases!? Then why are you flying my Starships!? If you were a Klingon you'd be killed on the spot, but lucky for you.....you WERE in Starfleet. Let's see how New Zealand Penal Colony suits you." Adm A. Necheyev.

With the amount of health DS9 has, no amount of healing I have done has ever been able to make a dent in it's missing health. I have only once been in a match where DS9 gets below 95%.

Maybe someone's healing it while you're not looking? Or there's always someone who's able to defeat the ships attacking it quick enough?
There are instances where its health drops significantly.
But I also agree that DS9's target box needs to be made smaller. It's happened quite often to me that I tried to heal myself, only to find that all my heals were going to the station because I had selected it without even intending to do that.
Surely there must be some way to keep the station selectable, without making it near impossible at some times to not select it.

I always throw DS9 hull and ship heals, as do a good number of players, and it does make a difference, especially keeping it's shields up so you can make that run to drop off marines....which incidentally, alot of players don't do.

I end up targeting the SB1 often enough on PC when tab targeting is selecting all kinds of random targets except the ones I'm staring down at in the center of my screen, so I try to manually select them. Giant ships have giant selection boxes, well beyond what they need.
As the title of the thread says, this is mainly for console players that do not have the luxury of tab targeting in the same way as on PC. In order to quickly switch between targets, we must first manually target by clicking the stick. Then we can switch between targets using the stick. This of course requires us to manually target, which is a pain with the giant target box of the starbase getting in the way. We can also let the system auto target for us by firing our weapons, but that does not always work in some situations, and it does not allow us to switch targets.
The gist of it is, unlike on PC where you can tab easily to obtain and switch targets, it is not that simple on console. This is about the terrible targeting system for us console players which is poorly designed and a pain in the TRIBBLE when there is something with a giant targeting box nearby.

Tab targeting is garbage on PC, FYI especially in a target rich environment like SB1. I often resort to manual targeting because tab targeting is just not intelligent enough at all for some situations.

Despite a few (supposed, coz I never saw a significant difference) attempts at improving the targeting, it's just downright bad no matter how you try to tweak the options.
One of the reason FAW is so popular, it bypasses the targetting system.
SB1 can be behind you and still become the locked target on console if you stickclick during combat that hostile thing sat at the centre of the oversized targetting box doesn't mean anything when there's an inert lump of space junk that needs to be looked at. And chances are if you flick the stick to swap the locked target onto something else it'll find someones mines.

Stickclick, Flick the stick, swap the locked target.
This reminded me of us opening the door in Mindscape. Very stylistically appropriate description of actions in a Star Trek game.

I've never had this happen to me once, like ian, I literally never even knew you could target the station.

It tends to happen to me when I try to heal a ship that's just left the station.
As someone mentioned never healing DS9, I'm thinking most people who don't experience this issue, don't do so because they never select an ally?
