Given that I think this is most ambitious event reward to date (ability to acquire a promo ship without spending money), with other options such as 1500 lobi or 2 free T6's, i'm curious what people have their sights set on. Sign off below.
Personally I'm conflicted. I know the Universe is ugly, and poorly designed, but I love it. I can't explain why I love it. And I've wanted it since it was released, but could never afford it. But I also really want the Miracle Worker Flight Deck Cruiser (DSC S2). I like the way it looks, plus its a power house. It really comes down to those two for me. This will really be my only chance to get a promo ship because I refuse to dump hundreds of dollars for virtual assets of which there is no limit to lol.
Given that I think this is most ambitious event reward to date
It's more like "the next logical step" rather than ambitious. If it was ambitious, they'd grant the one-time opportunity for an account-unlock on the ship chosen. I can see why they don't, tho.
There are a few good choices. I might pick up a second Inquiry or a second DIS-D7 (even if it gets the legendary-treatment, the spec will be swapped and thus be slightly less good). Or a Jellyfish for my Sci.
This one is tough for me.. it does feel like a ‘once in a lifetime’ selection that I would be surprised to see a second time.
Right now, I am back and forth between the Lobi or the Inquiry Battlecruiser.
The Lobi is attractive because Lobi Crystals are account bound. I could use it to get items for all my characters. There are some nice ground items and ship consoles in the Lobi Store that cannot be acquired any other way (they are character bound) and outside of opening boxes there is usually no other way to obtain Lobi.
The Inquiry is on my radar because I already have the promo ships I most desired (DSC Connie, DSC D7, Tzen-Tar) and the Inquiry would be a good ship for my main. My issue with the Inquiry has always been that it’s basically a slightly upgraded Gagarin which I already have. The performance is better, but not by enough to warrant spending the EC to buy it. As a ‘free’ upgrade though.. it starts to make sense.
I am hoping that during the next R&D Promo that the supply of Promo ships increases enough that I can acquire an Inquiry from the exchange, but the chance of that is next to none. Given that, I am leaning toward the Inquiry at this time.. I will just have to take an inventory when the time comes and see what my Lobi needs really are and decide then.
I'm hesitant to get a one-off promo ship that's then stuck on one character forever.
But then I really don't play my alt toons much anymore anyway...
I've got 2200 lobi now and none of the ships there are really thrilling me. (Plus that locked to one character thing like promo ships) But lobi is also good for other things besides ships.
I have 2 or 3 free T6 C-store tokens already that I've not bothered to use from previous events.
So atm probably leaning towards a promo ship? Just because they are the hardest to get.
Or maybe lobi? A cool gear set could show up in the future?
I currently want a D7 but plan on getting it sooner than via this event chain.
If I can I will take the lobi. I have 18 atm lol. They are hard to come by for me cuz if there is one thing I hate its opening boxes. I use lobi for gear releases in lobi store exclusively and the ones from the last event chain are all used up.

Torn between going for a Rampart or a Valkis. Im most likely going to pick the valkis as the game screams to pick the promo ship over a lockbox one but even LB ships are getting stupid expensive.
But who knows maybe the meta dps munchkin in me will override my longstanding desire to get the beautiful Valkis and get the Vaad Jug.

I'm gunning for the Mirror Warship. If that wasn't available I'd probably either get the Valkis or Inquiry.
Honestly I'm not sure at this point. I own all but 9 ships in the game (counting the Voyager J) in some form or fashion. Of course those 9 I haven't cared to own honestly or wasn't going to bust a pack on them. Since it's free I may finally grab one of the ones I don't own, cause well free.
I'm sure that sounds like I'm being sarcastic, but I'm not kidding, I really do own that many ships and have no idea what I want to get XD
"Someone once told me that time was a predator that stalked us all our lives. I rather believe that time is a companion who goes with us on the journey and reminds us to cherish every moment, because it will never come again." - Jean Luc Picard in Star Trek Generations
As soon as the event was announced, there was one ship that came to mind that I'd liked since I first saw it and that's what I'm currently going for since I'm highly unlikely to get it any other way - the Section 31 Command Heavy Battlecruiser.
My partner also plays, I think he's targeting the Mirror Connie. All else being equal I'd probably have gone for a Connie myself, but I treated myself to the Legendary Bundle last year so I'm pretty much covered for Connies.
If we get a D7 legendary bundle before the end of the campaign, and provided the stats and specialistic seats are to my liking, I'll most probably go for the Lobi.
If, on the other hand, there will be no D7 Legendary or I don't like the stats and spec seats, I'll go for the DSC D7. Carriers are not my preferred ships by any means, but the D7 is iconic.

- quelli che credono a quello a cui è giusto credere, sono d'accordo con quello con cui è giusto essere d'accordo e sono critici con quello che non va;
I imagine I'll continue to debate it internally right down to the wire. I think there's a pretty good case for any of the choices. I was originally just planning to hold on to the promo pack for a rainy day when they release something that I 'really' want.
Currently, after considering all the potential options, and assuming there aren't any upcoming lobi or zen ships that really take my breath away, I'm leaning towards replacing my Damar Drainlayer with the Son'a Collector. I don't really think it's an 'upgrade' persay, but the extra toys of the collector look fun and somewhat synergistic. I was debating between the Annorax and the Collector, but the latter toolkit just looks more useful and entertaining(it's also considerably more agile). Both ships kind of fulfill the desired motif of a dark elven wizard tower/fortress, if I'm willing to stretch the imagination a bit.. certainly a lot more than the Damar, atleast. I'll probably end up copying the prize package to tribble and testing both of them and seeing which has more appealing firing hardpoints and which looks better with the 'icy' visuals/vanity I use for the character.
Otherwise, the only other 'ship' I'm giving serious consideration at the moment would be the D7 FDC - for the tactical squadrons for use with my Beam Overloader Tzen-tar. That's also very contingent on whether they're introducing the FDC version of the D7 as a Legendary ship.
Torn between T6 Connie for my main, or the Durgath for my KDF "Time Lich".
For what it's worth, the Durgath puts a grin on my chin EVERY time I use it. It's not a particularly fun ship to build around, but once you have a good setup on it, it's a real Klingon Delight to use. However, it is the smallest of the 26c Dreads(it can almost entirely fit within the saucer section of the Universe class) and the customization options are extremely limited if you want the special 'city' textures on the ship(all other materials and almost all vanity shields simply paint the 'city' sections a solid color/texture).
I've wanted a Universe class ever since it was released, so unless I get lucky with a promo pack this year that's what I'll be getting with my event reward. If I DO get lucky then the decision gets more difficult, there's no other ship I REALLY want, but the Keldon, Jem'Hadar Dreadnought Carrier, Jem'Hadar Light Battlecruiser, and Freedom would all be nice to haves for various alts.
None, even though I like the TOS ships, but since I'm getting my first [T6] ship the Temer Class in March, I don't see a reason why I should get another [T6] when I already got one.
For me, I'm weighing up the time cost; assuming Cryptic's usual target of 15 minutes a TFO, that means 17.5 hours for this event. And well, I don't mind the event version of Breach - fly around a big ship, nuke a subpower core three times, nuke the main power core, get out - it isn't hard. But I can definitely see there being more frustrating ones ahead...
I'm weighing up just grinding out the time in real life and just buying out one event; same amount of grind, but I can get two promo ships instead of just one. I mean, I buy $200 of Zen, spend 6k Zen and topping up a little in the second or third events for a few choice of marks packs (you can't just buy marks...) spend the rest of the Zen on keys, sell keys for a promo ship. I mean, it's the same time cost, and I've resigned myself to STO being that one expensive hobby everyone has but they don't admit it. It's a lot better than drugs or booze at least.
The problem is, what to get? Tzen-Tar and Juggernought might be meta, but I don't want to fly either. Meta itself is an ever moving target anyway, and one I'm not prepared to commit the resources into chasing; buying a C-Store ship for a trait or console I'll do, but I won't buy Lobi/Lockbox/Promo ships for traits/consoles. The Durgath and Ent-J appeal (the latter especially would complete my collection of Enterprises) but both are... Well, I have already tried them on Tribble, and while I like the theme, they are just too big for STO's gameplay in my opinion. The other promo tier ships I'd be interested in got released in slightly downgraded forms in the legendary options, so they are out, with the exception of the D7, and it's supposedly going to have it's legendary upgrade this year.
The issue with any non-promo choice is that this really is a "once in a lifetime" type event.
Lockbox ships have the same issue fundamentally; the only one I want is the KT D7, but I'm waiting on seeing what they do with the D7 first.
The Lobi... well, Lobi I can get lots of should I ever truly want to.
Using it for C-Store ships at this stage for me is a bad idea.
I don't know. I'll finish the Breach event, see what the next one is, and the one after that.
Some premium ships are tempting, they have their pros and cons however, so it is not like ill be getting an upgrade, its more like a trade with unknown realistic benefits.
2 the coupons are also tempting, because i always wanted these torp consoles but never actually set them as priority, so getting them for free as bonus would be nice.
But for now i think i should grab the 1500lobi and run. Keeping them patiently just in case i ever need something from in there.
I've got my eye on the Caitian Asleep* Carrier and the Sech Strike Wing Escort. By the end of the event, the former should be out long enough for the T6 Coupon to be valid.
I'm just not into single character ships, no matter how good they may be.
When I joined the game, the first Event Campaign was just announced. The free T6 coupon from that gave me such a great ship that it pushed me from being F2P to LTS. It was a great incentive. I was relieved when I found they're offering a 2 Coupon pack as an alternative to the Promo/Lockbox ship prize.
*I know it's the Aspero, but thanks to Kael's hilarious typo tweet, it's forever the Asleep to me.

Whatever lets me use standard Connie costume parts. Is that just the Temporal Light Cruiser?
Just the Temporal Light Cruiser for the Promobox ship, but if you can afford the 10ship bundle the next time it's available then the Legendary Constitution Miracle Worker Light Cruiser can also use those parts, and the Legendary bundle is an account wide purchase.
Promo ship 100%. I don't really know which, will have to experiment with more ships till then, also have to decide one for main account and for alt account.
Contenders:
- Section 31 Command Heavy Battlecruiser: looks good from some angles but poor from others, seems fun and effective gameplay wise, different enough from intel dreadnought cruiser
- Vaadwaur Miracle Worker Juggernaut: sounds fun and sort of unique, like some battering ram, if paired with astika console
- Inquiry Battlecruiser: like set bonuses, starship trait, console, bland appearance, redundant with arbiter & gagarin
- T'liss Temporal Warbird: dislike TOS appearance, quite redundant with legendary and Z-Store ones
Otherwise already have all the promo ships I would want: Annorax, Valkis, T6 JHAS, Amarie
Questions:
- Inquiry: can I use regular Avenger skin and kitbash with it? Does it unlock Avenger skin if not owned?
- Temporal T'Liss: can you use temporal powers while enhanced battlecloaked? can you swap skin to other T'liss types?
I am leaning toward the Vulcan Experimental Science Vessel. I have been wanting that one for a while now, but there is no way I am forking over enough money to buy one outright.

Odds are we are getting a Legendary D7, as we have the Connie and T'Liss already. The question though is which variant we'll be getting. The Magic 8-Ball says most likely TOS, but we do have the DSC as a contender. Kelvin might be considered due to having the Kelvin Connie, but I doubt it will be. So strong possibility of TOS with DSC close behind.

Tentitive Answers:
Inquiry: Should be able to. Don't know if it unlocks the skins, but as she is of the Avenger Line she can use Avenger and Arbiter parts. I don't have one, and I already own the other two so... would need someone who owns an Inquiry to confirm.
Temporal T'Liss: Should be able to use any T'Liss line parts as long as you own the respective ships, or have the Legendary to unlock said parts. As for Temporal Abilities... I'm leaning towards no, you can't just stealth Temporal Power.
I still want a Kelvin to put together my Kelvin timeline crew, however this is tied tot he release of a DSC 'rite. If it isn't in the mudd store over the coming year.

If it's available in the promo pack, I'd like to get my hands on the vulcan jellyfish. Other than that not many of the promo ships hold any interest for me.
The 1500 lobi looks really appealing too, especially if you can save it for a 50% lobi sale. That's 3 lobi ships, or like 5 full space sets. There are plenty of things I need/want from lobi still, and its the one currency I can never seem to acquire because I absolutely loathe lockbox gambling.
The 2x t6 ship coupons are probably the least attractive option right now. I've spent thousands on zstore ships and there's not really any of them left that i care about enough to buy, even with a coupon. That might change if new t6 ships with traits/consoles i find useful come out, but I'm not holding my breath.
So at this point, vulcan jellyfish, or 1500 lobi if thats not available.

As long as it was already available before the new year started, its an option. Currently the only ship NOT included is going to be the Janeway Class. So Jellyfish is Fair Game.
I do not know if the current lockbox ship is excluded though.
I'm tempted to grab the Jellyfish ship, while I want the Durgath more, I have the strongest suspicion that the 26th century dreads are going to wind up in a Mudd pack, or as a lobi promo ship.
Questions:

I run an EPG stealth build on the Temporal T'Liss, and it is quite good. You can use almost all exotic damage abilities while under the enhanced battle cloak, but you will drop stealth when you fire them off, just like you do with torps. Things like eject warp plasma will keep you out of stealth until the ability is done channeling. The only ability that I have run into that does not work under EBC is the engineering skill line mastery skill EPS Corruption.
As for the skins, you can use all the T'liss skin options (not sure about legendary because I haven't customized mine since I bought the legendary T'liss), but you CANNOT use the plasma warhead module from the Malem. Why??

You can use almost all exotic damage abilities while under the enhanced battle cloak, but you will drop stealth when you fire them off, just like you do with torps. Things like eject warp plasma will keep you out of stealth until the ability is done channeling. The only ability that I have run into that does not work under EBC is the engineering skill line mastery skill EPS Corruption.
As for the skins, you can use all the T'liss skin options (not sure about legendary because I haven't customized mine since I bought the legendary T'liss), but you CANNOT use the plasma warhead module from the Malem. Why??
