Not buying the bundle, but still wanted to support the KDF, so...

A number of people have expressed their concern that Cryptic may take the bad sales of the legendary bundle to mean people aren't interested in KDF ships. While that would be a very bad reading of the situation, we honestly have no idea how they will view the situation.

That said, I have decided that even though I am not buying the bundle I am still going to show my support for the KDF and bought a ship from the C-store.

Ironically, it's one of the Vorcha variants that is in the bundle:

https://sto.gamepedia.com/Vor'ral_Support_Battlecruiser

For my part, I'm pretty happy with this new ship and wanted to share a few pics. First, here are all of the hull variants that come with the ship:

https://imgur.com/a/wT3QOos

I'm not sure if anybody else had the same feeling as me when looking at those pics, but that Vor'Kang is one badass looking hotrod, IMO. And there are actually a pretty decent amount of hull materials available to choose from, which you can see here:

https://imgur.com/a/VuzXd6q

Oh, and guess what? All of the parts from all of those hull variants are completed interchangeable:

https://i.imgur.com/aLCO20K.jpg

Also, that TOS skin looks kind of badass on the Vor'ral hull IMO:

https://i.imgur.com/59hEdCv.jpg

Annnnyway, enough of the space barbie for now... I guess :p

But yeah, if you are someone like me who isn't interested in the bundle but still wants to support the KDF I wanted to share this cool ship I picked up. If you decide to pick up a ship, feel free to share your pics too!

This is what the Devs do, it's intentional

The Devs on numerous occasions have maybe horrible ships and when they don't sell well the point to them as the excuse why they don't make ships

KDF wanted a true Science ship...so the Devs make the Varanus, a c-store ship which was worse than the free T5 Science ships Feds got. It sold poor so the Devs stopped making Klingon ships

KDF finally get a new ship for a anniversary...the Bortasqu' "Battlecruiser" which handled just like a Fed Whale Cruiser...didn't sell well so Klingons had yet another long drought

Scimtar releases...so a long time it was the best DPS ship in the game, next ship was the Ar'kif...a really meh Tactical Warbird in a roster bloated with Tactical Warbirds....sold so poorly they put a hangar bay on it just to sell better. Long Romulan drought

Devs decided to open all Romulan/Dominion ships to the main factions and they get access to their chosen factions ships. They promise this isn't some excuse to stop making their ships. Since that has happened the sub factions have averaged what...about 1 ship a year?

They open all ships up to all factions, then they make a total bomb of a legendary pack. You can bet it's going to sell poorly...and when it does they will use it as a excuse not to make more Klingon ships...not only that they have the additional excuse of being able to tell them there are plenty of new ships to fly...since they have access to all the Fed and lock box ships

I will admit.. you make an attractive case for the Vor'ral.. that's one nice looking ship. I have always been a fan of the Tor'Kaht variant myself.

I'll definitely vouch for the ship, The vorcha line has a very distinctive 'powerslide' playstyle that feels really satisfying with cannons.

The Vor'ral, especially, is a great package - the ship trait, console, and skin are all quite excellent. A lot of the more recent KDF skins tend to look more like plastic childrens' toys to me, but the Vor'ral parts looks tough and rugged. The starship trait is.. basically a 'do everything better the more you fight' I run it on many of my DEW ships because it's just a great, all-round combat superiority trait. The console is.. not game-breaking.. because it's reliant on a single target staying alive, but it basically sends your weapons into overdrive(firing cycle haste that's about on par with Cannons: Rapid Fire; but you can use it with CSV, BFAW, etc.); it can be a great way to burst out damage on ships that might have limited tactical seating options(I use it on my Durgath to establish initial aggro, or to quickly finish off stragglers, for example).

    Edit:
Also, if I might make a new suggestion, I'd highly recommend the Chargh Temporal Warship. Before the cross-faction ship unlock, my recommendation would have been/was the JHV or Romulan version, but now, I honestly think the Chargh is the best of the bunch. 5/3 warship with battlecloak, isn't super-squishy like the JHV version and uses a standard warp core instead of a singularity core. The trait and console are unique in that they will give a damage bonus depending on the faction of the character(+phaser damage for federation players, +polaron for JHV, +plasma for Roms, etc.). The console is also great for exotic damage builds; it fires a bunch of AoE warheads that completely ignore shields and scale with EPG/radiation damage(kind of a Spacial Charge Launcher on crack).

It's a great vessel and one of the few Klingon ships with multiple space barbie options.

    Nice OP, cool idea!

I took the bit better communication cryptic is trying to do as of late as a display of good intentions and will answer it during the next zen sale. Of course, the bad deal pack with its bad ships are out of the question for me.

I have eyed on the Discovery D7 for one of my better shaped characters. I already like the Discoprise so much that I’m going to get that ship as well eventhought it has the same stats. It is so versatile and potent that I plan on making the best tank I have so far done with it.

In the meantime, my support of the Klingon faction is limited to the new recruit. I have canceled earlier plans of deleting the char after the event and will bring it up to my personal char standards as time goes by.

I got the fleet Quogh for it and will take it to be my principle event & rtfo grinder in the foreseeable future.

Yep, June, August and just squeaked in the Recon Destroyers in December of 2020. Last release before that was the allied escorts in feb of 2018. So doin real well 3 years 3 ships, A+ super thumbs up just like he said.

Just think if they release 1 more C-store Romulan ship before December ends their yearly output rockets up 33%!

The promo D7 is quite honestly one of the best ships in the game.. it’s fantastic. That and the Tzen-Tar are my current two favorite ships. When they do the free promo ship after the next series of events, I would recommend it to anyone on the fence.

My Recruit is also using the Qugh and it’s a nice ship.. I am just having a hard time with how ugly it is. I might move her into a Fleet Kurak T6-X. It won’t be as powerful, but at least it’s nice looking.

Yea I think the Tzenkethi dread, Jugger, Discoprise/D7, t6 temporal sci ship(s) and the Styx should be the high-end crafts for most of the activities that are currently pursued in PvE. We are fortunate to have so many of them. I only miss on the D7 and need to correct that.

If they really hand out a promo ship via events that would be far out. :)

Word is that completion will be over the course of 5 Events.. so it might take nearly a year to complete. Still, that is by far and away the most lucrative reward ever offered. It will be quite the dilemma deciding which one to get, but for Klingons looking for a great ship that’s truly.. Klingon.. the Miracle Worker D7 is about as good as it gets.

Personally I don't find any of the Promo ships interesting besides the D7, and maybe the Annorax. It won't be hard for me to pick one promo ship, only which character gets it.

This bundle could have been great, even with the Excelsior and Ambassador in there they could have rounded it out with a Negh'Var, and the D7-types. It would still have less ships than last years bundle that way, and it would still have been severely overpriced but at least it wouldn't be so LAME.

Also, the Excelsior aside, none of the ships are better than their already available versions.

I'm already planning to buy the recon bundle instead of the 2021 bloatware bundle, but I might go ahead and grab the Vorral as well, could be fun to use a canon ship rather than the kurak on my 2409 klingon, probably going to use the Ketha on my Disco klingon. Are there any Temporal abilities that work well with a beam+A2B build? I've always dismissed that spec (most specs really) as useless after skimming through the ability descriptions, in fact the only spec ability I ever use on any character is OSS from Intel.

Shared fate is a great shield weakener, but short range. Recursive shearing and rapid decay are single target, but powerful abilities. The temporal gimmick of building entropy is probably best left ignored on most ships though, it requires a lot of effort and time for a good payoff, but more often that not things will die before you get entropy built up.

This leg pack is super annoying... and ya clearly setup to fail.

I mean not only is the pack meh on multiple levels from number of ships.. the fact that its only 2 KDF ships, and 4 ships for basically the same price as last years 10 pack... too stats... to the obvious try hard tossing in of a bunch of extra junk that people can just buy on its own if people wanted it.

They take the most iconic KDF ship there is the brel and give it a meh treatment. The trait sounds good... the ship, I mean its the kor with a added Intel seat. Its horrid. But to add insult to injury at the SAME time they give away a raider that is in many ways better. 5 fore weapons, one more boff seat, more shield more hull a bit less turn but really after 19 turn its all the same. They even throw in a new experimental weapon.

Its hard to believe this pack wasn't setup to fail on purpose. Cryptic has had some real stinkers in terms of bang for the buck over the years... but this one is a new low.

For this particular bundle it's too early to say, we'll know for sure on Thursday. Either we'll be seeing these ships everywhere in which case bloat bundles will become the norm, or the general population will see how horrible this bundle is and not buy it which could cause Cryptic to panic and make some kind of change, either by releasing a smaller bundle or buffing the ships some more.

All they had to do was price it properly. Trying to sell 4 ships for what they sold 10 for last year... is just obtuse. I don't care how many keys they throw in the pack. If I wanted to buy keys there in the store. Also the previous leg packs including the single ship Rom pack... included nice to buy on the store ships that where previously promo or lockbox. I mean the rom pack was one ship... but at least it was a leg version of a promo ship.

No it’s new. I’d even go so far as to claim it it’s thanks to the feedback a lot if us try to provide. Try is the keyword here as we have to bypass and fight a hard obstacle that we are sadly not being allowed to talk about.

Yeah...I've never seen them scrambling so hard to update stats before a ship is released. It's nice that they are doing it, but sad that they were so far off in the first place.

For the most part temporal powers are used on exotic builds so nothing one would run with aux2bat.

One major exception is recursive sharing though. It is a super strong temporal ability one uses on ships with a conventional weapon focused build whenever it is available. Pick that one and you can’t go wrong. It’s kind of the top temporal DPS counterpart of oss from intel.

It's a good change to the Ambassador, but I still won't buy it. They're missing the central hangup for about 99 percent of the dissenters: asking for $200 for 4 ships.

The 'value' of a legendary was firmly established last year - with the discount, you were looking at $20 per-legendary (and for some of the most exclusive vessels in the game, at that). By contrast, this 'deal' is asking $50 per-legendary.

No, I don't give the fluff so much as a nod, nor do I count it towards the overhead they are asking. There's no extra credit being offered in this course. We want the ships; we (almost all of us) only care about the ships; all we were asking for was the ships.

$20 ≠ $50. It's not even close. So, big shock that almost nobody is going to bite on this trap.

I think it's a good thing that they are willing to listen and make changes and I commend them for that.

Unfortunately, for me, the most needed change has not been made and that's the overall value of the pack so I am still not going to consider it. That's based on my personal opinion of this packs value in comparison to previously released packs, I don't find that this has the same value as the baseline that's previously been established.

That being said, seeing them listen to feedback and make changes is an encouraging trend and one I hope continues.
