It sounds like you are new to MMOs. So, none of them last forever. Many have come and gone: SWG, COH, MXO, the list goes on. When they shut down, people aren't refunded all they money they spent. If you aren't comfortable playing a game for a few years that will one day be gone, fine. But don't act like this game is any different than every other MMO. They will all eventually shut down. Either deal with it and enjoy it while it lasts or find an offline game to play.
You must be new to MMOs. No MMO that has ever been shut down for one reason or another has ever refunded monies payed by players or any other form of compensation. Nor has any MMO been rereleased as a single player game after shutting down servers.
Any money you put into the game gave you access to whatever option you decided to pay for, nothing more. You are not entitled to any compensation should the day come when the game will eventually shut down, which I hope is not for a very long time. No one forced you to pay for anything in game, it is/was your choice to do so.
Also, any money you pay in to the game goes towards paying for the developers, servers, rent, bills, ect...
It's not like that PWE, or any other company, takes all of the money and not pay their employees and other expenses.
