Does anyone know how to unlock the M’Chla Refit Bird of Prey Ship the information on what is and isnt unlocked is vague at best just play threw the missions and such or buy it what.
Be warned, tho: the announced EBC is absent. The ship comes with a normal Battle Cloak so, if you don't possess another ship with EBC and don't want to spend resources to get one, the best you can do is do the anniversary event and pick up the Temer which is supposed to come with it.
There goes my plans to make a dent in the 2.5k kills we need to get for the recruitment.

to get the ship:
Klingon Recruits are designed to emphasize the unique experience of being a warrior of the Empire. They have a number of advantages designed to close the gap that exists between new characters and characters that have been in Star Trek Online for years, all built around the glories of combat. But these Recruits have a secondary responsibility. Their mysterious patron is dead-set on removing Enemies of the Empire. After contacting Klingon Recruits during the tutorial, they are likely to move against these Enemies, attaching additional dangers and rewards to missions along the Klingon Storyline. Recruits who succeed against these Enemies will find themselves with a new T6 Bird-of-Prey that scales with their level. Each recruit’s own Transponder will give them details of their objectives.
Not very far... 2nd mission in the 2nd arc... should take you all of an hour if you play thru it intensely...
I didn't get anything from completing Rura Penthe - no ship; no Bat'leth.
That is still the 1st story arc. The ship is from killing a target in the 1st mission of the 2nd arc. (Hint: it is somewhere at the bat'leth tournament.)
The bat'leth is from your first melee kill, then it gets upgraded at certain numbers of melee kills later.
Also, keep in mind you don't just get the items as drops. You need to go into that transponder your recruit has and claim them once the conditions have been met.
Be warned, tho: the announced EBC is absent. The ship comes with a normal Battle Cloak so, if you don't possess another ship with EBC and don't want to spend resources to get one, the best you can do is do the anniversary event and pick up the Temer which is supposed to come with it.

Darn it. I did not even notice this. I don't suppose anything official has been mentioned about the discrepancy? And it isn't something weird like the ship needing to be leveled to a certain point for the skill to "upgrade", right?

The anniversary blog did mention the ship is supposed to scale, so maybe the enhancement "kicks in"? Although part of me kinda doubts it, and just went with the T6 Kor instead because there are no hoops to jump through for EBC for that...

Quoting you both so you both get pinged: apparently, it's a bug.
Read here:
I'm told those are both bugs, will be fixed soon
The "both" refers to the fact that , on top of not having the EBC, the M'chla Refit cannot, at the moment, equip the Kor's Universal Consol *even* if they do form a set, while the Kor can equip both. Fingers crossed this get fixed in a timely manner.

I was told it is just a T5 ship with a trait borrowed from another ship.
And that was supposed to be my first T6 ship.
I am holding it unclaimed in a hope that @Cryptic will fix all issues with that (9 consoles instead of 10, lack of Enhanced Battle Cloak and other), in some form of an emergency patch.
Do you have to play a KDF Discovery recruit in order to get the melee weapon and the ship? Or can you play a regular TNG KDF recruit?
No. Any KDF species will do.
"You don't want to patrol!? You don't want to escort!? You don't want to defend the Federation's Starbases!? Then why are you flying my Starships!? If you were a Klingon you'd be killed on the spot, but lucky for you.....you WERE in Starfleet. Let's see how New Zealand Penal Colony suits you." Adm A. Necheyev.

A regular Klingon works perfectly well.

So, you need EBC for the ambush thingy??
You don't need it, but it might make things easier. I was able to get some with a regular battle cloak and it should be better once they find and fix the bug.

Yeah, sorry.
I assumed that the absence of the EBC was what was making my kills under the Ambush buff not counting. I learned, after I posted, that the whole thing is bugged whether you use EBC or a normal BC. As it is right now, you need to be within 1km of your target when you destroy it for the kill to count.

In the The Klingon Empire is Recruiting Announcement from ARC it says the "T6 Scaling Bird-Of-Prey (Recruit and Account".
OK, I got it on my recruit, but how do you get it account-wide? I'm not finding it in either the Zen Store or from the Acquire Ship guy and I've been looking via my existing (pre-event) Klingon.

I haven't tested it myself, but if it's like other recruit rewards, it's probably from the Temporal Agent at Spacedock/Romulan Flotilla/First City. That's how you get account-wide unlocks from prior recruitment events.

In order to unlock the T6 ship for your whole account you have to get your recruit up to level 50 and spend 15 points on specializations. If you click the reward boxes in the transponder it tells you what the recruit will receive and also lists what the account gets.
Yeah, just like the Temporal XIII ultra rare boost... i understant, and thank you @jennycolvin for the heads up, i'll keep trying!
No problem! I managed to somehow get 50 kills... I do hope they fix it soon, tho, 'cause even with the normal BC it can be done if they fix the problem.

That's what the game says, but it's not true. My new KDF isn't even lvl20 (thus can't have spec points) and I still got the ship unlocked on the whole account after just unlocking it on the recruit. Could be a bug, though, as the whole event is filled with them:
-can't open marks boxes on other characters
-potentially the account-wide ship unlock
-minor, but the mission on Forcas warns you the target is in one area while it's in fact in one of the several rooms further away
-the progression milestones for "defeat ships after you cloaked and ambushed them" are either plainly broken or its requirements needs to be more specific.
I spent my current progression cloaking and ambushing ships in any way I thought of (using/not using torpedo and beam abilities, cloaking and attacking inside/outside battles, using/not using pets, blowing up/not blowing up the target in the first volley, etc.) and I only managed to reach 1 ambushed kill that way.

Resolved an issue where Ambush Kills were not progressing the Hunter’s Instinct track of the Klingon recruitment event.
Resolved an issue that caused the Bird of Prey [T6] to have a standard battle cloak, instead of an Enhanced Battle Cloak.
