Not a superfan of the show but... will we get to purchase detachable nacelle starships and such in the foreseeable future? The Voyager J and so on?
Considering Transformation abilities (Sep pets and Battle Cloak) are utterly broken on the Console ( @ambassadorkael#6946@darkbladejk see Bug Forums as this has been as issue for a long, long time now), I hope not, because those would be useless on Consoles.
"You don't want to patrol!? You don't want to escort!? You don't want to defend the Federation's Starbases!? Then why are you flying my Starships!? If you were a Klingon you'd be killed on the spot, but lucky for you.....you WERE in Starfleet. Let's see how New Zealand Penal Colony suits you." Adm A. Necheyev.
Unless time travel is involved, I doubt it, either we're going to the 32nd century or they lifted the time travel ban for it to make any sense.
You do know that there is already ships from other times in the game right?
Obviously I know that already, however those ships are from time periods where time travel is legal, while Disco S3 ships are from a time where time travel is illegal, who knows maybe Harry Mudd has a 32nd century ancestor who illegally smuggles ships from the future.
Yeah its funny how time travel is illegal but the Discovery traveled through time to get there, wasn't sent back, and they seem to have sent the Empress back too. So its illegal like speeding is, if no one catches you, you get away with it, and if Starfleet can't spare the resources for timecops, well who is there to catch you?
That just means that yes we will probably have designs from s3, hideously ugly as they all are.

We currently have access to ships that wouldnt normally have access to, adding s3 discovery ships wouldnt go amiss in the sea of ships we shouldnt have access to.

Sending them back wasn't an option. All time-travel information has been destroyed, remember? And Enterprise wouldn't discover the warp-slingshot trick until a decade or so after Discovery left, so nobody in the 32nd century knows about it.
"Time travel is illegal" doesn't mean "time cops", themselves violating causality and the law; it means that when the practice was banned for the sake of reality, all known methods of doing so were wiped out. All those (weird-looking) 32nd-century ships are going to stay just when they are.

LOL, no. The main reason is $$$, and that will trump canon in the end. But if they even feel the need to come up with some explanation, here you to: time travel isn't always intentional. All you need is some weird anomaly (see Yesterday's Enterprise) and you can magically have one of those future ships transported to 2410, where current day starfleet engineers study the design and do their best to replicate it. See how easy it is to get around the "illegal" thing by making it an accident?

Time travel exists and is possible in ST. You can't stop someone from independently reinventing/discovering it, especially if their species/government operates outside the Federation, even if we take as true the ridiculous idea that they wiped out all information and tech related to time travel. So they can then do whatever they want without time cops.
In the Temer & Grethor Ten Forward episode (now on Youtube) they said it was likely there would be Discovery Season 3 ships in STO, apparently in response to a chat question.
