customize ground weapons and more

I have been thinking, some of us prefer X look of name weapon and so on, be it the retro/TOS style phasers, the TNG era klingon disruptor pistol or rifle and so on.
Why not allow us to just change the "Looks" of said items, they would still have all the same damage and other effects of what they actually are, just the appearance would be different.

We are able to generally change the looks of most faction ships so why not these too?

    Maybe not for weapons like those from lockboxes, lobi store, or unique mission rewards, but I can see them being able to do it for standard weapons that change visual based on rank.

    for lock box/lobi and other "special" items, I would say you have to have had it first maybe.
    Because I like the S31 phaser rifle look, just not the weapon as is.

    there are many ways it could be played with.

    I remember that this is a desire the players have at least for 10 years now. Background being that the game's default weapon skins look terrible, with the already oversized hand phaser for example just being inflated and added a lot of nonsensical visual 'noise' to it. But the default Mk 1 tutorial weapon always looked the most screen accurate, which is why a lot of players asked for a way to keep those visuals.

    I'd support this. Unique weapons could be excluded, but I'd be in favor of being able to "re-engineer" a weapons' visual (maybe in re-engineering a weapons 'case' and put different energy types and upgrades in it).

    Edit: I'd like the same for space weapons, as in weapon visuals that you unlocked by owning them to be re-engineering-able onto other weapons of the same type.

    Exactly, why cant we have a ..... Biomolecular phaser that looks and sounds like the TOS/Retro phaser?

    they are only beam weapons after all.

    I would like to customize parts.. emiters, power cells, handle and so on.. that would be awesome customization and expand the Craft System..

    Why not have a visual slot, same as shields in space, where you put in the weapon of choice and that's the visuals it uses. I wish space had one where you put in the beam weapon of your choice and all your beams look like that, ditto cannons, torps, etc.

    I think it would be more practical if the weapon its self, was changed then you pick what one's do or do not have X look. More time consuming but over all a better plan I think at least.
    because maybe you only want A and B weapon to look like X but you want C and D to look like Y instead.
