I was also looking for a reason for the shutdown but I am unable to find one.
This is the third week 0 notes / 3 shutdowns?

It's required for backend system maintenance mostly, does not always include a patch or update.

Isn't that for Tuesday? Tuesday downtimes are known for server/system maintenance, while Thursday downtimes are something to do with the software/STO itself. Hence that's why some of us wondering why there is no patch on some of recent downtimes.

Tuesdays are also used for major updates like a new Season or Expansion. This gives them Thursday to pick up the pieces from Tuesday.

Even if it is just server maintenance, it wouldn't take Cryptic more than 30 secs to write and post patch note saying "7th Jan 2021: Server Maintenance." and that is it. So that way, we are all informed and updated on what's going on with STO.

It's too much work for the CM we're stuck with.

Even if it is only a one line Announcement there will be an error in it.

Its generally accepted that no patch notes = backend maintenance. Nothing changing.
If there's no patch, then there's no need for patch notes.

Could you cite any of the, now, missing items to expand upon the subject?

The link to the bug report is in my post above. I was rather liking the engineering module. Perhaps one of the better winter kit modules. It's definitely some decent Fek'Ihri magic grabbing the bad guys with chains and dragging them into a patch of fire

The last two weeks of the year and first of the year there is never any patch notes as the devs are all on annual leave, so maintenance is always just back end stuff. Normal service should resume next week.

That assumes that anyone at Cryptic believes it is their job to inform us.

Let's be fair here...they have never been what most would consider good in this respect...but what we have gotten since the current CM took over is on a whole other level. He forgot...oh I mean was not told about game breaking issues to put in the patch notes 3 times...and even after he has been made aware of the issues, STILL DID NOT POST THE ISSUES IN THE PATCH NOTES. Or in the loader. Or on the forum. Literally, the players had to do his job to disseminate the information. So while the company has never been on the good side of this...this current CM is on a whole new level of bad.

    pwecaptainsmirk bad?
    Definitely not an Arc User.

Ah the 3/6 "new" items that were added. That is significant. I do wonder with the silence about it if there was some glitch or if it was just an oversight with the new items. lol or if the Modules & Manuals will be added in some new monetized way trying to add "exclusivity" to them.

I'm guessing something glitched after Q's Winter Wonderland was taken down and the store reverted back to the previous year's version.

How long have you people been playing this game? Almost inevitably after the Winter or Summer Events are over, the new Items that were added for the this year's Event are gone. They revert those Store Tables to the pre-Event state. It usually takes a few Patch cycles for them to reload the new Items.

It is especially prevelant for the Winter Event.
