All three instances of the skill reset thing not being mentioned beforehand were due to breaks in the line of communication to Kael so he could know about it to tell us
They have stuff in place now to help prevent it from happening again
Skill resets because all the skill data in kept in a power tree that tracks all the skills in the game/what you've got, and fixing bugs in skills, and certain traits, can cause the powers tree to think your skill are invalid. The same is true of loadouts, since those touch skills also
All three instances of the skill retrains weren't part of normal development conversations, so Kael wasn't informed, and it came as a surprise to many of the devs also
Working on fixing traits getting wiped when changing ships
Fleet version of the Titan being made avaialbe for the KDF might take awhile due to the nature of the normal Ttian being available and it being something of a beta test at this point
Klingon ice fishing was created by the same former dev that created the Alpha mission
Looking into Cones of Conduct not giving progress
Not a lot of talk about new races like Fed Orions, except one we will learn about eventually
Before they do a lot of Lower Decks stuff they need to decided on what kind of story they want to do, and how best to blend LD into STO
Working on the DOFF tailor bug
Cryptic is well aware of the Temporal Ambassador bug, but its hard to fix becuase they can't replicate it internally
Adding a new event for the winter event is akin to making a new TFO in terms of time/development
Gender change for STO is a lot more difficult then it is for Champions due to game differences, but Kael is still pushing for it. Big issues involves gender changes being in the same file for your race and such
Typically something like a TFO or mission takes 6 weeks, though some missions like Sphere of Influence, Coliseum, and Measure of Morality, take longer
Jesse's favorite thing he worked on was Mindscape. Wanted Lon Suder for the mission
Snow Borg are called Snorg in the game files
Bath'leth tournament on Forcas 3 is still on Jesse's radar. Hes working on other YoK revamp stuff
Kael wants Tide of Ice to be reskinned into a legit TFO. Jesse mentions they originally wanted to do a lot more with it tower defense wise, but the amount of engine work that would have been required was too much at the time
They still haven't forgotten about the removed Klingon War missions, its just a matter of the pandemic TRIBBLE with how much time they have to do it
Remastering old missions is almost as labor intensive as making a new mission from scratch due to all the new tools, and systems, they have now, as well as all the new VA, and picking what characters to possibly do VA
Mine Trap was removed because trying to get 20 people to start it was difficult, the messaging was poor, and player didn't know what to do, and it was just really long. Salt Vampires in Mine Trap are variants from the one from TOS since the TOS one was stated to be the last of its kind, and didn't like copper based blood(which Vulcans/Romulans have)
Previous Mudd packs will come back
Kael and Jesse want to use the transformation tech for an episode where you play at Book's cat Grudge
They have ideas on a possible PVP revamp. Probably using the player changing tech to make people fly pre-made ships instead of their own. But its a huge amount of work.
New TFOs don't immediately get added to the normal TFO list after events end because of bug fixing, as well as adding in cooldowns, removing event specific rewards, etc. etc.
ESD shipyard got updated because Nick or Scott thought the ship selection was old.
Tilly/Killy's hairstyle could be added, but all of those items are custom sculpted for those characters and don't just work on normal characters
Kael wants Memory Alpha back, but Cryptic needs something to do there to justify it/make people WANT to go back there. Just making it a large bank wouldn't cut it
Jesse considers Kael's plan to bring back Mem Alpha better then trying to revisit Lights of Zetar
Someone asked if Cryptic could ever get the Rock since he was in Voyager, but hes difficult to get ahold of
They still want to do the Halloween event based on Catspaw. Kael suggested adding in a haunted candle
Jesse wants to redo the BOFF skill training system because it sucks, but it would be a HUGE time investment
Making the new Klingon bridge from the revamped tutorial on player ships requires a developer to have time to hook it up to work as one. Jesse wants to do it as part of YoK revamps
Jesse is disappointed theres no real space vampires in Star Trek
I can't take it anymore! Could everyone just chill out for two seconds before something CRAZY happens again?!

While you're at it, get rid of needing buy up all the different stupid skill manuals to make specialization training manuals. Increase the credit cost or whatever (not enough credits sinks anyway). Just get rid of the pointless busy work required to make them.
Personally what I'd do is have just 1 rank of manuals per skill with a ability to get "additional training" to unlock the higher levels of the skill if you have to. I mean it seems kind of stupid that our boffs need a new manual to fire couple of torps more per salvo or to make beam overload more efficient, those should be something that would "at field conditions" training.
And specializations shouldn't need anything from "tac", "sci" or "eng" manuals to unlock. Lets take command for example, you wouldn't really need any Tactical, Science or Engineering skills to be a good commander (depending on the posting obviously) just good administrative and leadership skills.
They still haven't forgotten about the removed Klingon War missions, its just a matter of the pandemic TRIBBLE with how much time they have to do it
Right. It's not as if they were removed in 2018... oh, wait! They were.
Remastering old missions is almost as labor intensive as making a new mission from scratch due to all the new tools, and systems, they have now, as well as all the new VA, and picking what characters to possibly do VA
Do it when you're sure it won't take you YEARS to get them back into the game, then.
I wonder how "labor intensive" would it be if they were behind a paywall, though.
They have ideas on a possible PVP revamp. Probably using the player changing tech to make people fly pre-made ships instead of their own. But its a huge amount of work.

No, please don't. It's TRIBBLE as it is, but at least it works. The moment they touch it, they're gonna break it and it's gonna take ages for it to get back to being even slightly usable.
Not agreeing with someone doesn't give you the right to be an TRIBBLE.

Ridiculous, they should scrap this stupid idea immediately. Everything they talk about always ends with a statement about how pressed for time they are. We hear a ton about how labor intensive it is for everything the player base wants and how pressed for time they are. The idea that they would devote any of that little time to something as pointless as PvP is ridiculous. The PvP community is already gone, spending time working on something that would benefit 1-2% of the player base (yes that's a guess) is just silly. Frankly, it's stupid to even bring it up because you know people are going to take this as a promise. Big mistake.

Could not agree more. I'm sure they have ideas about how to better design the system, but the current system works and every time they update a system like this we end up with invalid skills, unslotted traits, loadouts that won't save or any other number of things. Just leave it alone.

That ended-up being the reason why I didn't purchase it yet so glad to hear Cryptic is at least considering it.

Again, even though Iive seen it discussed multiple times in game chat & saw the question a couple of times during a 10FW livestream nothing from Cryptic about whether or not the Fek'lhri ships' consoles will receive set-bonus(s)? Cryptic did it for the Breen ships (previous Winter Events) & the Summer Events' ships so why not?
They still haven't forgotten about the removed Klingon War missions, its just a matter of the pandemic TRIBBLE with how much time they have to do it
I have a few characters that still have the old Cardassian missions. They still exist, I can start them and they function. It is clear to me they just turn missions off rather than actually delete them.
What they should do instead of "removing" stuff is to set it aside in its own category, call it legacy missions. No support for bugs, they are as they are, but leave them there so people can play with them if they want. Especially so when they have no replacements ready to go. Turning off missions to remaster them when you don't even have the remaster ready yet is really dumb.
Adding a new event for the winter event is akin to making a new TFO in terms of time/development
That's ok, we don't need more different missions in a single event. Both Q's winter world and Risa are overcrowded when it comes to events.
I actually preferred the maps and the events when they were more pristine and there wasn't a mission going on all the time.
Jesse wants to redo the BOFF skill training system because it sucks, but it would be a HUGE time investment
Not sure what this alludes to. While there was a lot of criticism after the last revamp (and yes, I voiced some of it), the system we have is much better than what it used to be like.
The only thing I can think of that could be improved, is giving the starter Boffs more useful abilities (like science team and hazard emitters instead of jam targeting sensors and holding beam, which won't do much on a ship that's flown by a level 10 character).
Well, and maybe allowing us to train Boffs anywhere, instead of having to go to ESD - but I guess that doesn't have to do that much with the boff skill system itself.
[*] They have ideas on a possible PVP revamp. Probably using the player changing tech to make people fly pre-made ships instead of their own. But its a huge amount of work.

This is not a PvP game, and it's never going to be. Accept it, move on.
Well if they'd just put players in standard ships like in some episodes (Dyson ship for example), it could work.
I'm sure there are many people who just like to shoot at each other without being interested in winning or anything. We actually did that a lot within our own fleet years ago, just for the fun. The problem is, if you queue up for a random match, you'll be put against players who take PvP very seriously or players who have invested hundreds of dollars into their builds.
A new system that allows more casual players to just have fun with each other, could be more popular than what STO currently has.
At least it would be something new instead of just another patrol mission with endless waves of dumb and predictable enemies. That alone might mean that many players at least would like to try it.
The only reason it may seem that no one would be interested in it, is because there currently is no good PvP system that could be interesting for a significant part of the playerbase. And because PvP in general has been neglected.
But to use that as an excuse would be like saying that, in a game that has no TFO's, no one is interested in playing a TFO when all the players who would like to play one have left.

Doesn't matter if a few people might like it, the developers have made it clear they're overwhelmed and don't have time to do most of the things the game needs. When you're in that position, spending even a minute on PvP is a very obvious waste of precious time. The game simply has too many needs and the developers have too little time to waste it on something as insignificant as PvP.

Totally agree!
Especially as they're demonstrating with this Year of Klingon that they don't need to remove missions until they're done revamping them.
Incidentally, does anyone have any of these old (possibly removed entirely) Klingon War missions available to share? I have the Cardassian and Romulan, hear rumour a handful of the Borg are still kicking around, too.
the developers have made it clear they're overwhelmed and don't have time to do most of the things the game needs.
They have never said anything like this.
All they have said is that things take time to make, and so they have to balance where they put resources. That's something every game dev admits to.
They don't need to have said it. The size of the team, the amount of outstanding issues and bugs, and the size of the 'yes we'd like to do that' list tells us that they have more on their plates than they can reasonably get to.
You keep mentioning other games as arguments for your points, but we aren't talking about those. We're talking about this game, and this team, and this list of bugs, and this list of we want to do this.
I don't play those other games, and I don't care if they're overwhelmed or not. It's not relevant.

My 2 ECs on this are:
Its fair to compare like things to each other, even if they are from different sources. STO is an MMO. So comparing it to other MMOs is fair game. What sets STO apart from most other MMOs is that the Developer is also actively working on two other active games, as well as one more in production. Most of the AAA MMOs are single shots from their Devs. Only other Developer I can think of with more than one is Square Enix, with both of the Final Fantasy MMOs.
ON TOP of that... we are in a pandemic, which is affecting everything.
Even under ideal circumstances, time investment can be a factor. And some things have to be left behind in favor of higher priority things. It happens a lot in STO, and it happens in many other titles as well.
It is what it is. We can't change the number of hours in a day, and we the playerbase can't just say "hire more people for STO" and expect results. We can praise Cryptic for what they've done right, and criticize them for what we felt went wrong. But that's about as much as we can do. The rest... is up to Cryptic in one form or another.
People want a housing system in STO. I've actually got a decent idea on how to integrate it with already existing systems, IE ship interiors. But at the end of the day, even if I can talk to the Devs about said idea... there's still the issue of available time to work on it, and how much of a priority it is. Player housing would probably be considered low priority compared to new story content.

The problem with the Foundry was that it broke every time new content was added, and then took flak for it breaking. The Devs explained that it was a patchwork setup to begin with, and it was taking more time to fix as time went on, which in turn angered the playerbase.
While I agree that the Foundry was great... it was really only a temporary solution at best due to the fact it was tacked on hapazardly and the people behind it weren't working there anymore.

Not to mention it was something console players didn't have access to, and supposedly less then half of PC players used it themselves.
It not only broke every update, but was also something that the vast majority of the player base either didn't, or couldn't use. Making it something of a poor investment to even try to fix in the first place.
That sounds similar to Cryptic's approach towards other factions' ships & content besides Federation-based. A potential problem with that is derelicting anything else that isn't initial majority is it can become a self fulfilling prophecy of demise.

No the actual problem is them not investing the time to fix it. They could've revamped it so it fit with the games code better and functioned just fine. But instead they chose to remove a very popular feature because they felt they didn't have the time to bother with it. (And yet in this stream they talked about revamping pvp something that virtually not a single player cares about.)
I don't necessarily agree. Each game is different in almost every way, from the way they're built to the way they're funded, to the way they're maintained. So using the state of other games to dismiss an argument about this one is not useful.
As for the rest of your points, I actually agree there. I never said anything about whether or not the current state was justified or acceptable or not. All I said was that they don't need to outright say something for them to demonstrate it.
I completely understand and agree with their decision to remove the Foundry for example. It was cost and time prohibitive to keep maintaining it. But they also stated that they'd have liked to keep it in - but they couldn't dedicate the time to it.
"Fixing" the Foundry would have meant from the ground up rebuild based on everything what was said about it. The guy who built it in first place left no notes on how they did it and that person isn't working on STO anymore and it was also something STO was suppose to be capable in first place so the Foundry was a juryrig from day 1, now I'd love to get Foundry back but I've accepted it's not likely to happen.
