So I have been looking at the number of race ships, ones that technically are not part of the main factions even if the race is.
(Andorian ships example)
but this also includes the random alien races and I find there is a LOT of ships out there that would be great to have in game.
One example is the vidians from the Delta quad. Telerite.
I dont know if the Orions have any ships of their own design but regardless, I think we should get more alien designed ships out there in game.
Yes, there are several Orion ships available to Klingon faction characters. And also Nausicaan and Gorn ships. But making more of their ships available as event ships would aggravate the problem already being talked about, that the factions are not being kept separate.
Though I hate their appearance, the Breen ships were interesting. The Vorgon ships were better looking and pretty good ships, too. And then there are the Ferengi, Tzenkethi , Vaadwaur, H'urq, and other ships. That's the sort of 'alien' ships I'd like to see. Things that would not be available to either 'faction' if they were not event ships.
The Vidiian ships do look rather interesting, and there are a lot of alien ships they never put in the game, true.
As for Tellarite ships, they have the Tellarite cruiser from ENT in the c-store as a carrier (it is almost identical to the Arkonian warship so it could be either one who first invented it). So far they dont seem to have the 22nd century freighter (unsuprising) or the one from DSC which was also a freighter (and rather uninteresting looking anway).
In the shows the Orions have five entirely different looking designs, but then again they are supposed to be a very ancient advanced civilization which fell into a deep dark age so that variety is not surprising.
TOS had the rather elegant and delicate looking Scout which punched well above its weight fighting the Enterprise. The hull on that one looked like it was formed in one piece and had wear lines like it had been in space for millennia.
TAS had a Frankenstein's monster of a ship rather like the Packled ship in Lower Decks, that even had gripper arms on the bottom similar to the small drydock structure the Packled ship did. Apparently it was an Orion freighter converted to a pirate cruiser.
TNG had the Wanderer light cruiser from the FASA game, though it only appeared as a diagram showing the information file about a ship being talked to but never seen directly in space. Apparently the Federation bought at least one from the Orions in the scramble to scrape up ships for the Dominion war.
ENT had the elegant and sleek Interceptors that were probably about the equivalent of a B'rell or so, and the ugly flying pig of a barge that Harrad-Sar flew. Unlike the others the barge was so fallen in tech level that it used tow cables like the NX-01 instead of tractors.
The game only has four Orion ships, all of which are carriers. Unfortunately none of them use the more elegant designs and are all more or less based on the barge aesthetically. Those are the T3 Decoit, the T4 Corsair, the T5 Marauder, and the T6 Blackguard (which is Harrad-Sar's barge model-wise). They really could use a few more, of other roles like the Scout and Interceptor, especially considering the sheer number of Orions there are in the social zones.
Also, the Balth from DSC looks more like an Orion ship than a Klingon one so I suppose that could almost count. It even uses the signature round impulse ports all the Orion ships (except the barge) have in the shows.
