So Cryptic, you have been streamlining things in the game to make them easier for players, and this includes mission, but it seems like the places that need the most streamlining are being ignored.
The main area I think needs streamlining is the imaginary vocabulary used in STO, mainly damage buffs, damage reduction, damage resistance, CD reduction and recharge time. I find these items to be poorly applied and even worse poorly explained anywhere in the game. So let's go down the line of streamlining:
1. Dmg--Eliminate + damage, + all damage, and + bonus damage and just make them all + bonus damage. There are several reason for this, some older console and even newer consoles boast great numbers on first reading but in reality add less damage than a +5% bonus to damage. Playing these damage games without actually having a calculator that players can see is just ridiculous. If you are going to do all this separating than show where the damage is applied, show the calculations, so that players can make an informed choice on consoles. If that is adding to much, refer my to my original suggestion.
2. Dmg Reduction--similar problem but with less variable apply same suggestion as part 1. Diminishing returns should be stated specifically after a certain bonus amount, thus making it clear after achieving 50% damage reduction, any additional bonus reduction will apply at 1/3 of stated value.
3. CD/Recharge Time--This is one of the worst...there should be absolutely no difference between Cooldown reduction and Recharge time, but there is when Cryptic starts using percentages. The worst example of this is the Synergistic Retrofitting Set, which says a 50% reduction on the recharge time of a 2 minute CD, that somehow comes out to the "i" math of 1 minute and 20 seconds. I can't say enough that either you need to clearly state somewhere IN GAME why CD and Recharge time have different calculation, beyond literally using a synonym, or clean up the math. The lack of details in Cryptic's skills, crafting, and damage has been a major issue in this game for a long time. If you really want new players to enjoy your game...the devil is in the details, and being precise does make a difference in MMO's. Just ask EVE, another Space MMO that does details correctly.
