So I've been thinking, we get to fight against the mirror terrans alot. And the game has mirror romulan and klingon ships, that we don't get to fight against.
So how's this for an idea, The Khitomer Empire.
A group of terrans unhappy with the current terran empire attempt a coup, it fails. But they're terrans who were collaborators during the Alliance days (or something) so have conacts with the rebels and stuff.
So rather than just be crushed they run off to Khitomer, safe in the Beta so it wont interfere with the terran battlezone, unite with the alien dissident groups to form the Khitomer Empire. Khitomer so its an analogue to Khitomer alliance in that mirrorverse is a mirror thing.
Same ideology and stuff, just wthout the human supremacy so it has a whole range of mirrorverse ships to fight. Still Empire and all backstabby fascisty, so they're bad guys we can fight against and everything. As if they were a new spocks rebellion style pro-federation mirrorverse we wouldnt get to fight them.
Maybe even find a way to throw some time displaced DISCO terrans in there so we can fight those ships too.
For a story, say Terran Task Force hears of a new rebellion in the mirrorverse, hoping for an ally they send the player out to make contact, you assume the khitomer empire by being multi-species will make a good ally, they use you to win a big battle then betray you and try and launch an invasion of our universe through a breach in the brair patch? or somewhere in the beta quad anyway. Big space battles that can be task force operations.
Story ends with business as usual but now the mirrorverse is divided between terran and khitomer empires. Both who are looking at our universe as a place to expand and so get an upper hand against the other.
As I see them pros/cons
Pros:
Task forces and storylines to fight the mirrorverse ships that we dont get to fight in the battlezone
A mirror version of the Khitomer uniform. Maybe a sword through the khitomer logo or something and sleeveless cos the mirrorverse ir warm or something?
Fighting mirror ships, so stories where you get to fight basically Fed, Klingon and Romulan ships all at the same time! But mirrorversion so its ok.
Cons:
It's a kind of lame story but like pfft.
Also slight idea of a Delta Empire too, where Mirror voyager went and conquered the delta with the aid of an army of ocampa and later borg tech and theyre all half assimilated and dressed like in Living Witness. But Khitomer Empire is a better idea.
I'd probably be a bit more interested in a misguided Mirror Romulan Intervention Force that comes to the Prime Universe(by choice or accident) in an attempt to "liberate" members of the Federation from the "evil humans". Heck, make it a Tal Shiar inside job for an extra helping of 'Romulan Flavor'.
As for Delta Quadrant.. Aside from getting to see more of the Voth-Borg conflict(Assimilated Dino Warmachines, anyone?), I'm still hoping some fragment of the Devore survived somewhere. Love their sleek ships, and there's potential for an interesting telepathy-xenophobia plotline there - especially with the whole Vaadwaur/Bluegills thing piled on top to make them even more paranoid.
I was thinking for a while of, helping a misguided Real Romulan armada, invade the mirrorverse after they discover it's romulus wasnt destroyed to reclaim a homeworld, for a how to fight romulan mirror ships but..
then you'd only be fighting mirror romulans. If it's a mirror khitomer, then you can fight all of them!

The problem is we don't really know the state of the Mirror Universe outside the Terran Empire. We really only see the Klingon Alliance represented by one single base in the Badlands Battlezone, but its swarming with Terran ships defending it. It seems to be implied that the resurgent Terran Empire conquered the entire galaxy, but outside of that we kinda have nothing to go on. I mean even Admiral Leeta boasts that they conquered the entire galaxy. But then again we do know that people in the Mirror Universe tend to be egotistical.
Honestly I wouldn't mind seeing a bit more of the political situation in the Mirror Universe, which in turn may open the door to new Mirror ships. I personally like the Mirror Klingon hull material. The more bronze than green is kinda cool.
I can't take it anymore! Could everyone just chill out for two seconds before something CRAZY happens again?!

The Klingon-Cardassian Alliance wouldn't ally with their Evil Terran Enemies, Klingons are the Good guys in the mirror universe, the Romulans became isolationists after getting their TRIBBLE kicked by the Terran Empire multiple times, would have been great if the Mirror Romulans were still stealthy space spies but heroic, and we don't know anything about the mirror universe Dominion, the Dominion could be like the UFP in the mirror universe for all we know.
Thats why i said, a rebellion. We seem to be showed the terrans conquered all of the mirroverse, somehow, and now seek our universe to expand into as theres no more to conquer in theres which is weird but its the story we're given..
which you know, is why the whole pitch of this is a rebellion. Why the title is khitomer not alliance..
So dissident terrans ally themselves to all the alien resistance/independence groups start a civil war, BAM, story hook and flimsy pretext for missions where you get to fight ALL the mirror ships. At once. As the rebellion being all the rebels in an alliance against the terran empire means all the ships.
Also if its a rebellion, that means mirror versions of those andorian pilot ships and all the other Cstore ships we never get to fight AI versions of.
Like, it's not a problem with the concept that we only know alittle what we know is that the terrans conquered all, its the premise of is..

The 'good guys' sure.
The Klingons in the DS9 MU episodes certainly weren't "opposite", if anything they were even more barbaric and warlike.
'Good' guys are bad, but the bad guys are BADDER!

I was never a big fan of the STO Terrans managing to rule the entire galaxy in the span of a few decades (super future technology or not). I prefer the story setting of the IDW comics were you're stranded in a universe where the Empire is stuck in a state of decline and they're fighting for every square inch of territory just to keep the horde of barbarians at bay. It won't happen because of the messy license issues but I can dream. It would be a nice change from always blowing up just Terran ships.
I am all for blowing up rebel Andorians/Vulcans & the Cardassian/Klingon Alliance for a change if they ever revisit the MU.
