On this day 15 years ago Enterprise concluded with "These are they Voyages" also bringing to an end of 18 years on straight ST television production. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QkecbH6an0w
I still do not accept Trip's death especially with that wink. For a while there was a group that was petitioning for a Season 5 of Enterprise. Sadly it never came to be. If only most Star Trek fans had embraced it when it first premiered instead of appreciating it when it ended. It most likely would have gone to Season 5.
ENT didn't really have a conclusion, it was suddenly chopped by Moonves when the popularity was climbing again so the production people bashed together a third party view "ending" that would satisfy Moonves's insistence it be a "breaker" ending (one that kills the chemistry, usually by killing popular key characters like Trip, and used to quash fan movements to restart the show) but be easily negated by saying that Riker's version was based on false records set in place to cover something like a very questionable secret wartime strategy or whatever.
Moonves was adamant though and the expected reversal of the cancellation under the pressure of fan campaigns to continue it never materialized.
