New computer - can't download STO

My old computer died yesterday so I went out and got a new one. As per the usual, I am going about with downloading stuff I need. Already I've installed a few games among other things. All except for Star Trek Online. Every time I try to download it, it freezes and seems to restart. Then I get this "The connection was idle for too long" message. Every time. Takes about 5 minutes before it gets to this point.
What am I missing? It's using the updater to download the game. I've looked and can't find a second source. I'm also doing this at 1:30 am, which I can't imagine is the biggest load time on the servers. What am I missing? I would really appreciate any help anyone can give.
