Omega minigame is bugged

vongravenvongraven Member Posts: 116 Arc User
I'm experiencing the same issue as during the last Omega event - the game ends too quickly and sometimes not even awards any particles. Would this bug ever get fixed? That would be highly appreciated.

I love when clicking "Begin" and it immediately stopping the game and saying "you scored 0 points" then exits giving me only 1 omega canister. Or in the middle of gathering it just stops.

Also, sometimes when you destroy a molecule it jumps forward, causing you to miss several particles.

What specific spots do you notice this lag happening? That might be useful in order to pinpoint the troublesome areas where it happens and help the devs narrow down the cause. I will try to make note of it when I do my Omega Molecule Stabilization tonight. Otherwise, my statements would be general and not specific.

Pretty sure I was getting this bug in Sol System quite often - that's why I never collect particles there anymore. I was getting the bug it other locations too but not sure which ones. I'll check next time.

Most of the lag happens to me on ESD ground and DS9 ground. Most other maps aren't that laggy.

I have a theory that sometimes the inet burps just enough to mess up the game. And lag causes particles to jump forward. J say this because abruptly ending even happens if I'm the only one on the map, such as when I'm playing on Tribble. Yes, I am playing it on Tribble too.

I've always received the correct number of traces for my score. If it's 0, then I get one, etc.
Now a LTS and loving it.

Last night, I did my particle collecting and had no lag with the Omega Stabilization Game on ESD (ground, near the shuttlebay or whatever that is called). Ironically, there was a ton of non-Omega lag near the Ex Astris Scientia circle on ESD but not the section where the particle was. I had no Omega lag in the space around Starbase 39-Sierra and Wolf 359.

Yesterday I had lag pretty much everywhere I tried to collect particles. Mostly in Sol System, K-7 and DS9 space. The game is lagging awfully during this last days, not only minigame

The "jumping' of the Particles occurs at the 'flex' points that correspond to the award category you see in the Mining Mini-game 100, 270, 490. I've never made it into the 700s so I can't vouch there.

In the past the start and immediate completion at 0 Particles did award the Trace. This year it seems not, but remember they fiddled with the Trace awards this year.

I had that happen the other night in Vulcan space. Started then completed, I moved on without checking the Mission in the Active Mission Log. When I finished the remaining two locations (Drozana Space has been the final location for me every night of this Event) I noticed the Mission was not complete.

I went back to Vulcan and did it again. This time a normal run through and I completed the Mission.

This random bug has been around for years. It's due to the particle timing out before you're done.

Last night, I did the Omega Stabilization mini-game. I was fine for Starbase 39 (Space) and Vulcan (Ground) but when I went to Bajor (Ground) and landed on the planet, I had lag and rubberbanding once. Then when I did the Omega Game that lag manifested itself affecting how many points I could get from said mini-game. Otherwise, I had no problems except for Bajor last night when I played from 11 PM-12 PM EST.

Defera ground has been a problem for me. Sometimes I have to do 3 nodes plus zone out/log out before I get credit for completion (big deal when trying to complete the event daily). I don't just cherry pick the nodes either - typical I get 1000-2000+ particles.

Tonight at around 11:00 PM EST I got an Omega mission for DS9 (Ground) and had no problems with the ones on Vulcan (Ground) and Drozana (Space). When I went up DS9's spiral staircase and did the mini-game, it lagged out and I got 0 points but still got completion for the Omega Stabilization Mission. DS9 in general is lag-tastic under Lighting 2.0 whether the HUD is turned on/off, it makes no difference. This lag also affected the mini-game as well. DS9 really needs to be optimized and they need to look at the placement of this Omega particles/molecules since I had to go up the spiral staircase which you need to jump to instead of just climb. Thanks. :)

This is not a bug. If you miss particles, then it jumps on purpose.
